The beast/gunship extended its legs, two from the area around its head, and two longer legs at the end of its body. The turrets on the underside of the ship were useless now that they had almost hit the ground. But the gunship could walk, and the turrets on the top of its body were now active, drawing power from the now near useless lower turrets. The upper turrets began glowing, drawing power for a return volley that would fly over the half demolished low lying houses, and impact on the stone towers of the Castle.

Inside the compartment the targeting computer was having trouble though, the sensors couldnt see the castle, it was as if the building was a whole in reality. It was the type of sensor he was using, it relied on projecting energy beams to the target, extremely effective in all previous encounters, even on rebellious Nozaedi. These Demons had different technology, it was trouble some. The officer switched to visual targeting and prepared to fire, the charge almost complete on the cannons. He reached for the “Fire” button on his display dome, the lights flickered for an instant. All five cannons had fired, arrayed in a flying V formation on the domed back of the Gunship, the shots were similarly spaced.

Inside of the castle, Paul saw the buildup on the monster like ship. He had been ready for this, he flicked a switch on the panel before him. The now familiar thuds of the Castle closing itself again, began shuddering through the house. He returned to the camera’s and checked that Christie Joseph and James were now shuttered inside the towers the had climbed up to when they had detected the gunship. And now it was about to return fire, and put the energy absorbing qualities of the castle to the test.

The five blasts were on slightly arched trajectories, perfectly aimed to incinerate all of the weapons towers on the Castle. They soared over building after building screaming through air particles at near sonic speeds. The first blast impacted on the closest tower, the impact was blinding as the energy exploded accross the castle’s Turret. Similar flashes erupted at the other turrets as the four other energy blasts struck home. The Castle was undamaged, but the back lash from the blasts was tremendous. Mini cyclones sprang into existance around the castle along with near hurricane winds. Then as abrubtly as they had started, they died.
