Denise Shore was the sometimes naughty girl next door in the TV series "School Days". Denise liked to party, but hung over she was nearly impossible to work with. Finally the cost of having her on a set outweighed her appeal to the viewers.

When the Producer rejected the idea of using the incorrect biopsy Corrie, the daughter of a breast cancer survivor heaved a sigh of relief. She told the other writers she really didn’t want to do that. “I didn’t think it was responsible but I know how much pressure there is to do this. It could be damaging to women with benign tests. My one cousin just lost a breast four years ago but she is cancer free and alive. My mom had her mastectomy when I was eleven. As bitchy as Denise is there are days I would like to kill her myself.”

The group laughed. Each of them had seen her tantrums.

“There are days I could consider running over her in the parking lot with my car. Maybe we could do it with a drunk driver? That would be poetic justice.” Denise had given the writers as much trouble as her fellow cast members.

Everyone looked toward Corrie. This was a socially acceptable way for her to die. But would it work? A smile spread over her face and Corrie continued.

“Try this, maybe it doesn’t make sense. If it doesn’t we can put it in the trash can. I lost a close friend in High School. She left school one Thursday night and never came back. She was hit head on by a drunk coming home from work at Hardees. She was trapped but lived long enough for the paramedics to get her out of the car. Her dad got there while they were getting her out. He talked to her while she was being extracted. She died at the hospital.”

Another writer piped up. “That will be perfect.”

“That would be fine but she didn’t have a job. And how do we get her into the car?”

“She could be coming home from shopping.” Her face lit up. “Do we have anyone else who isn’t signing? We can get rid of them at the same time.”

“Jeff is asking for a lot more money.”

They called the Executive Producer with the idea. She liked the idea if it was portrayed right. They should start writing the first episode with her being killed but they must never need to see her on screen. They were to leave Jeff open. By evening the call came down, “Write out Jeff too.” He had been given the opportunity to sign now at the studio offer or be terminated. He refused to sign. He was given twenty four hours to reconsider. If he did not, he too would be written out. He refused. Both Jeff and Denise thought there was no way to not have them appear in an episode to write them out.
