They start the tour.
Denise finally got to sleep just before five. Six o’clock came and the others started making noise. Finally Carol shook her. “Time to get up. We have places to go and things to do.”
“Is the shower empty?”
“The shower is always empty. We will be using the public ones in the park.”
“Can’t we just use the one in the RV?”
“There is not enough water in the tank for that and the water heater is so small that three and one half of us would get a cold shower.”
“What water tank?”
“The fresh water tank in the RV only holds fifty gallons and the gray water tank only holds thirty. The black holds forty one.”
“Fresh, black and gray water? I thought water was water.”
“Fresh is water we can use. It is clean. It is held in a tank under pressure to feed faucets. Black water is from the commode. I think you will understand that. Gray is from the sinks and shower. Black and gray water drain into tanks on the bottom of the RV. What water we use in the RV we have to replace and dump. I like to keep the dumping to every second or third day so we do as much in the bathhouse as possible.”
“OK. To the showers.”
The three amputees used their crutches to get to the bathhouse. They each had a backpack containing their things. Denise followed.
At the bathhouse Carol checked the showers. She pulled out a cell phone and dialed a number. Within a few minutes a woman came in carrying three plastic folding chairs. She placed them in three of the showers. “Sorry the night gal missed the order to do this.”
“No problem.”
Denise was fidgeting. Carol looked over at her. “Go in the area in front of the shower, pull the curtain, take off your clothes, take a shower, dry off, use the outer area to dress. It is really simple.”
“OK. I just haven’t used a public shower area since high school.”
“Don’t worry about it. Get your shower. We aren’t going to look. We have all seen women with two legs and small breasts before.” She laughed.
It took less than a half hour for them to get their showers, brush their teeth and dry their hair. They headed back to the RV. “Now what?” Denise asked.
