When she wheeled over to the RV Susan came to the door wearing a peg leg. “Let me put those things inside.” She took the paint, crutches and clothes inside.

Debbie came out with her peg leg too. Denise asked, “Is this peg leg night?”

“No. I am doing tonight on crutches with my stump peeking out.”

She was wearing a pair of short shorts with her stump sticking out. It looked so shear, like the other leg.

“How do you get it to look that way? It looks so nice. And isn’t it going to swell?”

“I am wearing a garter belt, the other leg has a hose on it. This one has two very sheer support hose, cut to the right length. It supports the stump and keeps it tight to prevent swelling. I can’t do this the week before my period though.”

“It really looks nice.”

“Thanks. I have one more thing to do with you before the evening session. Wheel over to there.” She propped Denise’s cast on the chair and pulled out the saw. Denise pulled back. “Don’t worry, I am not going to cut you. I am taking off the walker to make it lighter.”

She made marks on the saw blade with a marker. “That’s so I can see how deep I’m cutting.” She made a couple of saw cuts being careful to only cut a certain depth. Then she took the mallet and chisel and literally peeled the plaster cast till the walker fell off. She used the utility knife to clean up the rough spots on the cast. Debbie came over and picked up the pieces of the cast and put them in a trash can. She took the walker and the tools to the RV.

“If you want that back on we can do it later.”

They did the appearance, closed up on time and headed to the next campground. Carol took Denise’s temperature and dispensed her medication. Carol moved the slings to above the bed for Denise to support her legs. As she was being hooked up Denise asked Carol. “We really generated a lot of attention this evening. I saw more guys in the group than the other nights.”

“We’ll have to see what Susan got out of the feedback. And we got a TV spot tonight at eleven. The station covers the area of the next mall and they will mention where we will be. But I agree more men were paying attention to you and in fact to the rest of us. I had my stump rubbed at least three times.”
