Denise Shore was the sometimes naughty girl next door in the TV series "School Days". Denise liked to party, but hung over she was nearly impossible to work with. Finally the cost of having her on a set outweighed her appeal to the viewers.
“If you stay with me will that hurt you making money? I mean you will not be on tour.”
“No. Staying with you is working according to him. We get paid. Don’t worry about us. Just get in there, get yourself well and get back on the road with us. Working for Fritz is like a factory job. You work, you get paid.”
“But how can I go back on the road?”
“How what?”
“How am I going to make it on the road on one leg?”
“Well three of us are doing it, what makes you think you are not as good?”
“But you know all kinds of things. You have been doing it for years.”
“And we did a lot of it two months after our surgery and we didn’t have the help you are going to have. Once you get out of the hospital you will have thee of us to work with, full time, not just an hour a day therapy session like we had. And till you do you will have one of us here. I guarantee if you listen to us you will be out on crutches in two days and back on tour in three weeks. You should be doing almost everything we do now in three months and enough to be out on the tour in a couple weeks.”
“Who’s going to plug in the AC, get down the promotional stuff? I was the only one with two legs.”
Susan laughed. “It isn’t easy for me to climb the ladder, but I can with my prosthesis and the AK’s do it better without it. It isn’t easy but we can do it. It was just easier for you. When you get back it is your job. Till then one of us will do it. When you come back we will teach you how so we can quit doing it.” She lauughed.
“What about the AC?”
“You get to do that as soon as you can.”
“How?”
“The same way we do it, on the prosthesis or crutches.”
“So this bit about me doing it was all an act?”
“Some of it. It was easier for you and you needed to do it. Now we have to get the RV on the road soon. Who do you want to stay the first week? We will be rotating every two weeks if you are here that long. One of us will leave here on Saturday morning and the one coming in will return late in the day. He doesn’t want you to be alone long. He feels we can help you get going fast.”
“I hope you two don’t feel bad but think I would like Carol to stay first.”
“She’s the one we thought was the best choice. We have to head out.”
