Fritz calls Sandra to make an offer.
Sandra’s phone rang again shortly after she ended the call.
The caller introduced himself as Donald Fritz. He explained he was a movie producer. She would have been suspicious but for the call from Carol. He told her he wanted to buy her contract from the current studio.
“Maybe you don’t understand. I’m in a hospital, have been unable to work for months, may never be able to walk and you want to buy my contract?”
“I generally know your condition. I want one of my actresses and a lawyer talk to you. I will not buy your contract unless you agree for me to do it. I want someone who wants to work and someone who wants to work for me. I don’t need someone who wants to be somewhere else.”
“Send them in. I can talk. My schedule is quite open.” She laughed.
“I would like to set up an appointment with your lawyer, I believe that is Attorney Bretz and my lawyer at the hospital with you and also have one of my actress meet with you as soon as possible.”
“I would be interested in talking. I don’t want to spend the rest of my life in bed but I am not sure what I can do.”
“We will work around that. How about a meeting this morning?”
“Fine.”
About ten thirty three people came into Sandra’s room. Samel Bretz pointed to the other man. “We met in the elevator. This is Attorney Jacob Bubb, he represents Donald Fritz. And this is Anna Baxter, an actress who has worked for Fritz. He wants you to talk to someone who actually works for him. He wants you to know what it is like.”
Attorney Bubb broke in. “He told me to bring Anna. He said he didn’t trust a lawyer to tell you anything. He wanted her to be here to make sure I didn’t misrepresent anything. Do you mind if she is here?”
Sandra was at a loss for words. “I don’t, I mean, she is so great. Yes she can stay if it isn’t a bother for her. I’ve looked up to her.”
“I’m not that old.”
“I mean.” Sandra back pedaled. Anna broke out laughing. .
“I claim to be forty five. If you ask me sometime there isn’t anyone else around I’ll tell you the truth. With them here I will not tell you if it is low or high.”
