Sandra signed the contract.  It was contingent on the studio release.

When everyone else left Attorney Bretz stayed behind.

“Your business manager Kathy asked me to talk to you. You have some decisions to make.”

“Is there a problem?”

“No. Just some things you need to know.”

“Sure.”

“Up till now the studio has been paying your hospital bills. We suspect that will end with your move and signing the contract with Fritz.”

“Will I have money to pay the bills?”

“Kathy estimates your assets, cash, bank accounts and stock, at just over seven million dollars. You can take out about one percent of that or seventy thousand a month, let’s say sixty five to be safe and it will be there for life.”

“That’s good but medical bills are big.”

“We looked if there was someone responsible for the accident, it is hard to find someone to sue. The company that made the mule may be a possibility but that is not going to be big bucks. I think that is a last resort. We can sue the studio for pain and suffering and some medical bills that you incur because they mismanaged your care. I would rather let that go for a while and see how things go. If you get better I may see if we can get them to cover all of your medical expenses and settle for that.”

“Good.”

“Do you remember when Kathy and I asked you to take out that insurance policy?”

“Yes. It was a lot of money.”

“It was a life insurance policy for eight million dollars. It pays four million for loss of a limb, with a ten million cap on multiple limb loss if it is accidental.”

“You mean when they take my legs off I get eight million dollars?”

“Yes. That would give you an additional maybe sixty five thousand a month. I think we can safely go ahead and not worry about finances. Should we apply for the loss of limb money?”

“As soon as my legs are amputated, yes.”
