The couple arrive.
Jan, Judd and Donna were taken from the hospital to the airport in a van early in the morning. They were given cosmetic prosthetics for the trip. Jan started to cry. “They are so clumsy. I feel so crippled with them.”
Donna nodded, “We will get your hooks back as soon as we can.”
“Thanks.”
Three security people accompanied them. On the plane the security people flew in the aisle seat with Jan, Judd or Donna at the window. The flight went off without any hitch.
The tour team was not scheduled for any event on Wednesday. They were to be at the regional airport at ten to meet Jan, Judd and Donna and have the remainder of the day free. Fritz thought the team would need that time to acclimate to the new people and the newcomers would need time to get to know the others. They pulled into the airport parking lot and got out. Sandra, Susan, Debbie, Barb, and Lou headed across the parking lot, Sandra in her wheelchair, Susan, Debbie and Barb with their peg legs and Lou with her hook. All were wearing shorts and short sleeved tops. They caused quite a stir at the terminal building and there was an impromptu autograph signing session resulted. None of the others had noticed but Lou had taken a back pack. When the people started gathering she pulled out brochures and started handing them to the ones close. Within minutes they were all signing. Lou tried to hand out brochures but people kept handing them back to have her sign them. She was unaware at the time but several of the sessions she talked in had been covered on local and regional TV. She and Barb were in demand, albeit not as much as Sandra but certainly people wanted her autograph. One man handed her the brochure and asked. “Can you make it out to Helen?”
“Who is Helen?”
He choked. “My wife. She lost her right arm, above the elbow, we got hit by a truck, rolled over, her arm was crushed, just ten weeks ago. It will mean a lot. I just got off a flight. On the way back I have been praying something good will happen for her. I think you are it.”
“I’m not sure of that but if you think so, I’ll be with you on it.”
“Thanks.”
“You said you are coming home?”
