Yuri is befriended by the polar bear, and goes with him to meet the mystical council of Klonshara.
Day 1 – November 4th 2005. Parralex Day: 25th Polanga 3160
I lay on my stomach looking up at a human-like polar bear who had just told me I was the chosen one for some prophecy?! As you can tell. This day wasn’t a normal Sunday at all. I quickly regained myself to a sitting position, sliding my hands backwards into the ground below me, looking up to this bear. He let out a small sigh as though he was waiting for a bus on a Monday morning. “Look, I don’t have time for all this, can you just please get off the floor and come with me?” He grunted with his low manly voice. I didn’t say anything. I stood upright quicker than you could say Polar bear. I looked round and saw we were in a thick jungle, will heavy vines and terribly tall trees. I took a closer look to one of the trees that were just starting to grow; some water was sliding off it to the concrete below. I took a closer glance, slowly raising my eyebrow to it and saw what appeared to be spider-sized winged horses, or the technical word for it is Pegasus’. They glared at me as if I was some bad guy in a movie; they then turned away from me in disgust and flicked their tails to me, signalling that they didn’t like me very much. I felt kind of offended by this because they didn’t even know me, yet they despised me greatly. “Enough making friends with the Pagran Tribe. We have to get to the council of Klonshara.” I flicked my head back to the warrior bear, and raised my eyebrow to him. “Council of Klonshara?” “Yes, the council of my tribe.” I didn’t stop and ask any more questions before he turned violent on me. He didn’t really seem like the patient type. We slowly walked along the concrete surface, me examining this mysterious place, the bear was looking round as though it was dinner time. Which I didn’t like the look of. It must’ve been about ten minutes walking through the jungle, tree after tree after tree. It was making me feel ill. It felt like one of those programs where they walk for a really long time but the budgets low so they use the same back ground over and over. Then we finally stopped in a small area which looked like a camp site. The place was surrounded by thick vines with only two openings, one in which we had just entered from. I looked towards the tents, they were huge! I know I’m probably stating the obvious here but they we’re so huge, you could fit a bear inside! We stopped after walking in about ten feet before the bear I was walking behind stopped me. “Don’t move a single step.” He whispered towards my section. I looked round trying not to move, then he stamped one of his feet paws onto the floor a few times, it was almost like a rhythm of some sort. After the rhythm tapping was over I didn’t hear anything until I looked to the floor and saw some vines with razor sharp points sticking out of them sliding away. Suddenly I heard a great big yawn, like some fat guy had gone to sleep for a few months and then just woke up. Another bear head shot out of one of the tents, eyes shut and yawning. He slowly opened his eyes and glanced towards me and the other bear. The bear quickly scowled at me before exclaiming “An outsider! Look out Malián!” “Don’t worry, Shez she is whom the prophecy told of.” “Yeah, the prophecy of New Beginning or something like that” I thought I’d get into the conversation. So I shouted that out. The bear called Shez gasped towards us. “You gave her some Drings? You know they are forbidden to all except our allies!”
“She IS our ally. Did you not hear me? She is the human foretold in the prophecy!” The bear called Shez gasped again but this time more in my direction. “Very sorry, you must forgive me, I am a new recruit.” “Yes, a new recruit who can’t shut up while people are trying to sleep!” said a voice from the eastern tent. We all glanced towards the tent as it unzipped and a bigger bear stepped out of it. He began to stretch as if he had Monday morning pains. “So,” He glanced towards me “You’re the one from the prophecy? Well Malián, introduce us!” Malián sighed towards the other bears then swiftly turned round to me, eyeballing me as though I’d just smashed a window on his house. “You, what is your name?” I stood up straight quickly though I were in the army and he was my general. “Y-Yuri S-Sir.” “Heh, we should be the ones calling you madam, not the other way around.” The nameless bear said. “Caragan, Shush. I am introducing her.” He glanced to me again, and spoke to me as if I was royalty. “This is Shez; he is commander of tactics, medication and an advanced spy.” Shez stood up straight and clenched his hand into a fist and pounded it onto the crest on his armour. He glanced towards Caragan. “This is Caragan, as you can tell he isn’t very good with attitudes, but he is my most loyal soldier and he is commander of weapons and invasions.” Caragan almost exactly mimicked Shez. He glanced to me again. “I am Malián, respected member of the Council of Klonshara, master of recruiting and ranking. We keep the order around this region of Parralex. And we are all commanders in the Council of Klonshara. “Um, not to seem rude but, what IS the Council of Klonshara?” Shez as though I was stating the obvious, which I probably was in their eyes. “You do not know what the Council of Klonshara is?” “No, is it important?” “Is it important?!?!?” He looked as though I were retarded. “The Council of Klonshara is- He was rudely interrupted by a very high cackling noise, one that an evil apprentice would make in one of those cartoons. The vines began to rustle around, me clinging onto Malián. Then a small – let me rephrase that, Huge – opening occurred at the most western part of the vine wall that was surrounding us. A gigantic, hairy, thin leg emerged from the gap in the vines, Shez, Caragan, Malián and me all backing up to the eastern side of the vine wall. Malián stuck his huge arm in front of me as though he were protecting me or something. Then came some more high pitched cackling as another three legs emerged from the gap. I thought to myself “Please oh lord; do not let this creature be a spider.” Unfortunately for me, another two legs emerged then, I realised, and it was a spider. Great. “So, you’ve found the prophecy child? Well, we’ll have to fix that won’t we?” Cackled the voice from the same gap. As he launched out a thick piece of webbing towards me, Malián intervened and stood in front of me as he shot it, grabbing the hilt of his blade as he moved. The web hardened quickly, and began to pull Malián in. He swiftly flung up his blade to his hand, catching the hilt of the blade as it flew up. He then sliced the web with a hard slash and the web disintegrated down into nothing more than string. “Don’t even try it Syndax. You know your kind’s web won’t drag a full grown Polar bear of the Paragan tribe. And you know it.” “Humph.” Grunted Syndax.
“Fine, but you’d better watch that kid, ‘cause I’m ‘gunner snag her. And I’m ‘gonna ‘dispose’ of her” He left, giving another high pitched cackle as his legs dragged back into the dark depths of the gap. Goodness knows where he went. “Are you ok?” Malián glanced over his shoulder and scowled at me. “Y-Yes.” “Good. Sorry about him. He’s been turned to the evil side by the dark lord.” I didn’t know who the dark lord was then. And to be honest, I didn’t really want to find out. Anyway everyone began to relax and plod back off to their tent, except for me a Malián. “Shez. Caragan.” They both swiftly turned to him and stood to attention. “We cannot stay here any longer, he will have probably told the dark lord about the girl already. We must find a new place to camp.” “Yes, Sir!” They both replied simultaneously. They plodded back off to their tent, grabbed a strange small box with a button on and pressed the button on the top of the box. Amazed, I stood there as I watched the tents fold themselves up and hop into a bag on their utility belts! They looked at me as though I’d never seen it before. Which I hadn’t. Malián looked at me as he did the same thing as Shez and Caragan, looking at my clothes as if they were worn by Aztecs. He grunted as they all started walking towards the north part of the wall with an exit out into the jungle again. Great. More walking. Just what I needed after a 10 foot spider attacks me. We didn’t walk very far; we saw a little old shack so we walked to it to see if we could spend the night there. We walked up to the tall and thin, wooden shack along the sandy pathway leading up to it. I was looking round aimlessly wondering how the trees we’re taller than the Amazon’s. Without warning me, Malián and the others stopped in front of the door, me bumping into them. They knocked politely on the door and I heard some heavy footsteps coming towards the door. The door slowly creaked back letting off a terrible high pitched noise, the door flung back a few more centimetres to reveal a dark chocolate brown kangaroo. Yes. A kangaroo. “Oh, hello Malián! How is everyone?” He voice was as soft as a feather and smooth like a baby’s bum. “We’re fine, a bit tired. May we spend the night?” “Sure! The polar bear rooms are on the second floor, on the left” She smiled sweetly at us. And then looked down to me. “Oh um, what specie are you?” “Human? Is that a type of pixie? Hmm… Will you mind having a polar bear room?” “No, any room will do” I smiled politely at her and she smiled back. We followed her into the wide space; there were a few lamps on the wall glowing dimly and a fire place underneath two of them. She showed us to a small counter where she reached underneath and grabbed some quilts and pulled them out and put them on the counter. We each took a quilt and walked over to the enormous stairs. We walked up the first flight of stairs and turned off to the left, I was gazing at all the rooms. Malián and the others each went into separate rooms; I was left with number 4. I slowly put my hand on the doorknob and slowly twisted it to the left, pushing the door forwards as I turned it. As I walked in a gazed upon an enormous room, make that two, with a shower/bath combo! I thought it was luxury! Anyway I didn’t really have any pyjamas to change into so I slipped my shoes off, pulled my quilt over my bed, got into bed and slept. This was my first day in Parralex. It was a bit hectic as you can tell. But the next day was even worse…
