The first installment of many to encompass the story of the AKOS Consultancy and it’s employees. What will Brady Allen do when his employees start going missing and his company name starts getting tarnished? What lengths will a man of magical means go to in order to insure the safety of those he cares about?
“There’s just something about him Ethel, something that just draws you in. Like… some sort of animal magnetism or something.”
The Nitro pulls out and starts speeding down the street. It slows to a stop at a red light when a tinkling noise starts to sound. Suddenly the man pulls a cellphone from his pocket and punches a button.
“Yeah, this is Brady.”
“Hey Brady, this is Swifty. When you planning on coming into the office today?” The voice is smooth, but the words come out so fast they are almost hard to understand.
He looks at the clock blazing 8:04 and thinks a second before answering. “Well I was going to grab a bite to eat and read the paper, so maybe quarter after nine? Why what’s up?”
“We have a walk-in, she seems really agitated about something. Won’t talk to none of us, she says she’s heard about you and only wants to talk to you.”
Sighing, Brady flips his turn signal on just as the light turns green, and takes a right turn instead of going straight as he had planned. “I’ll be there in twenty minutes Swifty, tell her to relax.”
“Will do boss, see you soon.” The smooth voice named Swifty closes the connection even before Brady punches the end call button on his own phone.
Tossing the phone into the center console Brady combs his fingers through his dark brown hair to bring into some sort of tidy waves, and looks into his own liquid blue eyes in the rearview mirror. “Brady Allen, you need to get another job.”
Downtown Cincinnati, Vine Street
Twenty minutes later, the man named Braden Allen walks into an office whose door reads “Akos Consultancy” and stops at the front desk manned by a pretty twenty something brunette. “Messages, Megan?” She hands him a stack of pink papers. That he starts shuffling through.
“The normal stuff Brady, people looking to interview you or wanting a freebie.” She looks back down to her nails which are perfectly manicured, and goes back to buffing them fiercely. The papers make their way to a wire wastepaper basket and Brady turns, walking past the desk and into another door.
