A fallen angel, to return to heaven, has to murder himself.

“Sir Dante! Sir Dante! Sir -“

“I AM NOT DANTE!” Xin shrieked, his hands clutching his head as he hid within the protection of the Phantom Battalion. “I AM A MORTAL! A MORTAL! I AM NOT DANTE!”

The war on the battlefield froze momentarily.

“I – I am … am not Dante …” Xin sobbed.

The battle resumed gradually. The demons fought more fiercely than before, with their goal was locked onto Xin now. With their goal in sight, their fighting spirits were fanned to even greater heights. The fairies has had their morales cast aside by Xin’s sudden cry.

They did not know whether to believe Xin or not. It was either that Xin was speaking the truth, or that he did not wish to help. Yet, the fairies continue their battle, continued fighting for their lives …

The ring of soldiers about Xin loosened as more warriors were brought down. Most of the surviving ones were reluctant to protect Xin, seeking only for his own survival.

A demon slipped through the ring and flashed to Xin’s side within the blink of an eye. Xin cried out loud, raising his arm to shield himself.

Blood. Black blood splattered across his arms and face.

Blood of the demon.

A gloved hand wrapped itself about Xin’s shoulders. Xin slowly brought down his arms and looked to the stranger. It was another Phantom Soldier.

“It doesn’t matter who you are. As long as his Royal Majesty asks for your protection, I will be here.” The warrior smiled.

But the smile soon faded as the Phantom warrior was beheaded in an instant from behind.

“I see. So you were a higher-ranking angel than I was before you fell.” General Du Jian swept his sword, Jade, through the air before him. There was a huge tearing sound as the demons in the way were blasted and disintegrated into halves by a wave of almost invisible projectiles.

“Hmph.” The demon lord grunted as he raised his arm to summon a shield, which easily deflected the projectiles. “I was definitely one of the higher-ranking Cherubs. But after I fell, after I consumed my doppelganger … hehe … even a low-ranking Seraphim cannot bring me down now.”

The Demon Lord held his dark spear with both arms, and smote the spearhead down upon the General, who barely nullified the advance with Jade. The blow, however, threw General Du Jian a few good feet away.
