A random excerpt from Endurance chapter 2
In this excerpt the parents of Max are having a bitter conversation concerning Max.

Jenna sat in her office when her cell phone began to ring, she sighed when she realized that it was her ex-husband. “What” she growled as she answered the phone.

“How is my son?”

“Like you give a damn?”

“Like you give a damn, he’s all over the place raising himself.”

“He’s grown.”

“Anyway, I need to speak with him?”

“Does it look like I would know where he is?”

“Jezebel, you’re his mother?” Max yelled.

“Don’t you dear call me that!” Jenna screamed.

“Hey it’s your name slut.”

“Maybe if the sex was better I wouldn’t have to be a slut.”

“Oh your friend didn’t complain.”

“What, you’re the one who went to a prostitute.”

“You know that was a set up, you set that up, why would I need one when I had one at home!”

“Max isn’t home.” Jenna snapped wanting to end the conversation.

“Why do you need to speak with him?”

“I meet with a female friend of his today; I need to talk to him about it”

“What, girl, is she a brown skin girl named Taisha?” Jenna yelled.

“You spoke with her?”

“She was here a few hours ago.”

“Hey you still got that trailer your mom left you?

“Why?”

“Well, I wouldn’t want you to be homeless.” Maxwell said, before slamming down the phone.

Jenna was fuming she new exactly what he meant. She needed to think fast she was not going to be poor again.

Jenna picked up her office phone and requested a meeting with her divorce lawyer.

She searched her mind thinking how she could get her way, cursing herself for not acting faster. Maxwell fooled her that day by calling her in before the final meeting he made love to her. They drank and reminisced over the good times before leaving in separate limos “How could I have been so stupid, momma always said, love was for fools.”
