He gave Michael a packet with all the papers, tickets, and money for their trip to London.
They were waiting for him at the airport. One of them moved towards Michael while he was getting out of the custom’s gate and said something in his ear. Michael smiled and began to follow him.
A blue Jaguar was waiting for them beside the pavement. Michael got in and the car sped away. In about twenty minutes, he was in front of a warehouse in New York. The driver dropped him there and the car disappeared with speed.
Michael stood there for about ten minutes, waiting for the next instructions. A little boy came to him and gave him a piece of paper. Michael read the number and tore the paper into little pieces. He looked around but he did not find any place where he could find a public telephone booth.
He began to walk in one direction. After about twenty minutes’ of walking, he was in front of a coffee shop. He entered the shop and ordered a coffee. He made a phone call from there, finished his coffee, and, paying the shopkeeper, moved out of the shop.
In about an hour he was entering an office of a garment import and export company. He did not stop at the reception and walked directly through the passage towards the inner offices. He stopped in front of the Director’s office and knocked.
Voice: Come in!
Michael: After all, it is over!
Director: Yes, for you it is over but for us there is a lot to do.
Michael: What about me?
Director: You are going on a long leave of one year to England.
Michael: That sounds great!
Director: You have been appointed the co-editor of The London English Publications, in Green Ford.
Michael: And what about Mumtaz and our son?
Director: They are going with you, of course! I wish I could enjoy a family holiday of one year!
Michael smiled and thanked the director.
Director: I am sorry for your loss, I mean, your brother-in-law, Shabir.
Michael: It is part and parcel in our line of duty, Sir.
Director: I am proud of you, my boy!
He gave Michael a packet with all the papers, tickets, and money for their trip to London.
When Michael was about to go out, Director stopped him.
Director: Are you ever going to tell her?
Michel: What?
Director: About Shabir and master.
Michael: It won’t be necessary, I believe.
Director: Michael, one last question. Do you really love her or you married her just for this case?
Michael: It was latter at first but now I am going to spend rest of my life with her.
Director: May God bless you and your family!
Michael: One last request.
Director: Shoot?
Michael (writing a phone number and address on a paper): Send some gifts to my dear friends, Karim Khan and Ram Singh in India. I hope you won’t mind the expenses. They were really kind to me. I wish I could do something to save Shabir!
The Director left his seat and hugged Michael affectionately.
When he left that undercover office of the Interpol, Michael had tears in his eyes but he was happy that it was over.
After about two hours, Michael was on-board a flight to Alabama.
