Children’s story about a strange little boy.

This is a story about Gilly Gunky, his real name is Gil Gunther but we all called him Gilly Gunky because he always had that slimy  gunky  stuff in the corners of his eyes and he never cleaned them out and  anyway he did not seem to mind us calling him that.

Gilly’s  story starts out sad but it is a great ending so I hope you read through and cheer like all of have for the “Great Gilly Gunky”.

I first met Gilly when he came to live with his aunt and uncle, we were both 10 years old,   he moved in with them after his parents disappeared. I am not sure how the disappeared, and their are about yen different  stories out about how it happened. First I heard that they died when a fire destroyed the building where they were attending a convention. Then i heard they were missionaries who decided to live the rest of their lives in the deep jungle, and lastly i heard they were kidnapped by some oil sheik and forced to become their translators. They all sound absurd to me but those are just a few of the stories out about  Gilly I think Gilly knows but he likes to make up adventures about them maybe cause the truth is too sad, but since we all make fun of his name we allow him to tell us crazy stories about his missing parents.

Today is the First day of summer vacation and the   1 years anniversary  since Gilly  moved in to the neighborhood, my parents used to make play with him but now were good friends. I  still razz him about his yucky eyes, and the other  fellas do too , but he still part of the gang.

Around 9 am  I spotted Gilly from my kitchen window, Gilly cane running down my driveway yelling ”Jeff guess what ,  guess what, . by the time we were face to face he was out of breath and his eyes filled with crust  as usual  What, I said.  Its a letter from my parents.

A letter, I said . Gilly was holding this battered up post card. What does it say? I said. As he started reading I think I was as excited as he was.

Dearest Son, I know its been a year since you have heard from us but we were not allowed communication with freinds and family.
