The first chapter in Growing Choas.

It started of just like any other day. Wake up, in the middle of the night screaming, and then stay awake for a couple of hours before finally getting up. All of it was normal for me. I stared having the nightmares when I was around seven and I’ve had them ever since. I would dream of terrible things, monsters tearing people in half, demons feasting on dead children and entire villages getting destroyed by a storms of demons. I only realized that they were visions of the future when I dreamt that an orphanage would be set on fire and all the people inside cut into bits and some of children hanging from the roof with their own guts. About two weeks later, my dream came true. I was twelve at the time and when I watched the news report I was absolutely terrified. I couldn’t sleep for weeks afterwards but when I did finally fall asleep the nightmares were even worse than before.

The night before the blast I dreamt of a world of chaos, flooded with monsters and demons, with some terrible thing leading them, like some sort of general. It had a humanoid shape and its skin was horrible, like it had just jumped into a pit of fire. His face was a mask of scars and cuts and his body bulged with so much muscle, it looked like his skin would split at any second. But the worst thing about it was its eyes. They were full of darkness and hatred. And as it lead its army towards the city, its smile grew and grew, as if he enjoyed seeing the world go up in flames. Fire was falling from the sky and buildings crumbled. And everywhere people were dieing in a pool of their own blood.

School was the same as always. I would have a class, then would just stand there and take all the insults Alex and his stupid gang threw at me, while everyone else would snigger and laugh. Then I would go back to class, felling miserable and thinking why me? Out of all the people in this school, he had to pick me. But why? Was it because I was a loner or because he knew I wouldn’t fight back? I wouldn’t be surprised if it was both. Now a day I could cut him down with the flick of my wrist but back then I only dreamt of the darkness inside me. . . and then it happened.
