Responsible freedom can be practiced by living one day at a time.
Speaking of doing one’s best in a given situation, we ought to remember that time is not unlimited, rushing may or may not be good, and in order to feel or realize the blessings more often, we must take one day at a time. This should be seen from the perspective of the ultimate goal. If a person does not have clear goals, the chances of achieving the important means for the attainment of goals will be lower than if such goals are already well-defined. Time can be wasted doing things that are headed towards a different direction.
Going back to my example, if my goal in life is to eventually establish my own school in the field of expertise wherein I am, I would have to prepare for the attainment of that goal. Let me set the timetable to less than 10 years. Think of ways to get started towards a specific strategy. Size up financial resources as early as the present and project the attainment of a required amount. When can my means be sufficient for me to initiate steps leading towards educating more and more fellowmen in my field of expertise ? I can initially size up my talents based on what are already available at present. Then the next step is to identify what I do not yet have and what should be gained as the years go by. Plan ways and means to have the ingredients needed to eventually achieve the goal. Implement what can be implemented. And be satisfied with whatever accomplishments are reached during the time when I keep striving to successfully implement steps.
We are free to advance in the spirit of service for the building up of people. For most people who have not yet seen the higher calling that goes beyond self-development, an attitude that looks into the welfare of other people who are not as blessed, they are free to go for the establishment of their own roots to survive in this world. It is a logical first step. Achieve self-reliance. Once it is a certainty that they will almost surely have what they need to survive a decent life, the next step should be with taking full responsibility for their own family members. make sure that they too will not only survive but also learn how to practice responsible freedom. Educate the children. Provide for their formal education in a respectable school wherein they too will be built. Of course this speaks of earning the income to feed a family, to cloth members, to shelter them, and to afford some formal education. Although formal education was proven in the past to be not a pre-condition for success in life, in our present time, this is the more conservative way of providing for education. The working class serve businesses. Through their companies, they serve customers or clients, as well as superiors within the organization. In effect, they too are guided to supply and serve the needs of other people.
