Don’t you hate it when you’re trying to get something going with a new girl, and the old one who snubbed you suddenly shows up all jealous?
“Linthice…? Zaraek did a double take when he saw the elven female. He barely recognized her. It seemed her nature was as changeable as the wind and sky, and this was what she was reflecting when she found him in Silvermoon. Her hair was no longer the straight, white blond around her shoulders, but a light blue of the sky. Her dress brought out the color, dark, streaked with blue and purple. She was twilight in motion.
He was in a discussion with Lord Aurumna Ravenwing at the time. The newly-married Tauren had gotten Zaraek to reveal Tabalah’s true name and his own dream of working with the youth coming out of Sunstrider Isle — the tauren lord truly had a way of drawing people out. But then Linthice approached, and he found he couldn’t focus on anything but her. It wasn’t just that she was physically attractive, because he had found that after his encounter with Tabalah in the spirit realm, the attraction of the body paled in comparison to the touch of spirit. He could feel Linthice’s spirit calling to him for peace.
And there was another lost and damned soul, shredded by Arthas, in the back of his mind that wouldn’t quite leave him. Mistress Avriella. Avriella, with her secretive letters that were only signed by her scent, revealing all too clearly the struggle that was ripping her apart inside. If he could really pass on this gift, perhaps…?
“Zaraek…” Linthice smiled hesitantly, breaking into his thoughts, unsure how to approach him since she had not met him in Nagrand to watch the sunset, as they had planned.
Zaraek stepped forward, bowing, and smiled broadly, reassuring. All was forgiven, if ever even noted. He swept a hand toward the Tauren lord. “M’lady, this is Lord Aurumna… My Lord, this is Linthice, a companion of the Ebon Blade.”
She nodded to the tauren, but seemed distracted and unsure in this, the home city of the Sin’dorei, once called Quel’dorei. Linthice was more at home with a blade in her hands and an enemy that was sure to strike openly. She managed to exchange some pleasantries, but soon stepped closer to Zaraek and whispered, “Can we go… somewhere…?”
