Damien and Lacey go to meet Ashlynn’s father.
Tuesday came sooner than I thought it would. Tonight Damien and I would be meeting Ashlynn’s father. In my waiting I had successfully taught Rowland one trick while Damien had taught Tabitha five. Thus far I had managed to keep my possible friendship with Kameron a secret from my brother. Last but not least I had not worried too much about Ashlynn’s arrival.
Currently I was in a fabulous mood. The promise of change was hanging heavily in the air with no sign of negativity. Damien had gone out for the day and I was home alone. Opening every curtain in the house I put in a CD of The Rocket Summer and turned it up all the way. Rowland and Tabitha chase me around the house as I danced like a fool.
After about an hour I collapsed on the landing. My throat was dry from singing on the top of my lungs. The music had switched to the next disc and Metro Station begged me to keep dancing.
One major downfall to being immortal was the endless amounts of energy. I only slept to past the time but even then it was the lightest, dreamless sleep that could barely count as resting. My feeble attempt to burn off some of my vigor was a failure. I was anxious for tonight and that made my insides feel like a bunch of overstretched rubber bands.
“What is a girl to do?” I wondered allowed.
Rowland lifted his head sleepily in response.
“I am sorry love.” I cooed. “You are all tuckered out aren’t you?”
I laid on my back allowing my head to hang off the landing. My neck probably would never get stiff, the blood would not rush to my head and I would never get dizzy. A groan rumbled in my throat. I was so used to having nothing to look forward to that waiting for tonight was driving me crazy.
I silently wished I had a real friend. Every television show I had ever watched practically insisted life was not worth it without one. Laughter bubbled in me. It would be quite difficult for me to find a friend my age. I seriously doubted there was a human around that was four hundred and forty-nine years old. However, in a way I was really no older than twenty. What did twenty year old girls do for fun nowadays?
