Everything begins to come undone. Will the Immortals and Dungardians band together after an attack or will they remain seperated in battle?
I did not feel any different as Connor sped back to the mansion. My chest still hurt slightly from the unbinding process. Nicolious had merely placed his hand over my heart but the jolt I felt was in comparison to all of the bones in my torso being forcibly removed. Never had I felt such a pain surge through my body. Had I not been immortal I would have died from sheer agony.
At least Ashlynn had found no pleasure in it either. Her ability had given her phantom pains mirroring Damien’s and my own. Sadly this only stopped her mockery and increased her complaint.
Damien on the other hand handled it the best. As far as could be observed he felt minimal pain. He was a scraped knee to my car crash. Either way and all physical aside the emotional torture, that could be read all to easily on his face, was what really hurt him.
After years of bitterness towards our late father it had now become our destiny to follow in his footsteps. Damien and myself, Arthur’s children or spawn be it, were now possibly the only immortals that believed humans and our kind could live in harmony. Something so controversial would not be easy to accomplish. Once Trikous and his dreams of a multiple world empire and the whole thing spelled out war. A battle at this magnitude could not simply be won with two half-breeds, an Elder, an immortal princess and Connor. Victory looked bleak.
My head rested against Damien’s shoulder. Solid Damien the one who had taken care of me since our mother died. He had been my protector for centuries, my rock for decades and my friend for more days than I cared to count. There had never been any doubt that he would always be there for me. I was his baby sister the moment I was born four and a half centuries ago, and I was still today. If I were to lose him in this potential war would I survive on my own?
Little things started to flitter in my mind like butterflies. I recalled moving away from our home when Mother had passed, building our own cottage on the western side of Ireland where you could always smell the sea. We walked the entire shore of that Island just to see if we could. The first time we lived in Britain had been like a long vacation, America turned out to be better.
