Lacey and Damien focus on their abilities and learn surprising new things about themselves.

I tried my best to swallow the bile that was slowly building up at the back of my throat. Ashlynn had brought Damien and I to the same empty warehouse we had met her father in. My brother was practically drooling on Ashlynn’s dress.

Admittedly Ashlynn was beautiful and graceful as she demonstrated how Damien should move while using his power. Her dress clung to her hips tightly as she showed the best way to draw energy in. Light reflected off her hair as she pranced around him positioning his arms and caressed his legs.

At least she was keeping some composure. I thought to myself. It was not as if she were tearing my brother’s clothes off in front of me. As much as it pained me I did have to admit to myself she was being very helpful in her own way. Ashlynn knew her stuff about battle and how to retain energy in a fight. Perhaps under all the beautiful clothing there was a warrior.

“Now what I want you to do is focus on that window and see if you can shatter one pane at a time.” Ashlynn had her hands tightly on Damien’s shoulders. “You have figured out on your own how to focus on a target from close range. However, the trick for you is to be able to hit a target without damaging its surroundings. Think of a battle field. You would not want to hit someone on your side while trying to take out the enemy would you?”

Damien looked at her adoringly. “Certainly not. Especially if you were in harm’s way.”

I rolled my eyes. A part of me wondered if Ashlynn had the ability to make men lose their minds. In all the time I have known my brother he had always been stuffy and composed. Now his very mind seemed to turn to mush around the immortal princess.
