Lacey, Damien and Ashlynn are forced to face their position and make a choice of whether to continue forth or not.

Never before had I felt like a stranger in my own home. Damien and Ashlynn were being cozy in the library. I neglected to announce my arrival for being in the house with them felt just as intrusive as would be walking in on them.

Knowing my brother he was most likely pulling down manuscript after manuscript from the shelves. He would be animated as he waved his glass of brandy reveling in the written history. Occasionally he may share a tale or two of how he and I had witnessed the grand events of the world. Many of these stories I am sure Ashlynn would find mundane.

I imagine to an immortal the civil war would be nothing but boring compared to the great battles Alamar had seen. On the other hand I always enjoyed Damien’s stories. True I had been there the short time we settled in the south and had watched war erupt around us. Yet, my brother had a way of describing things in full color. He could tell a story so well you could practically feel the cannons and smell the gun powder.

The sense of nostalgia was overwhelming. In four hundred and twenty-nine years I have witnessed the changing of this world. Perhaps now all those events would become pointless and faded from my mind. If this world were to be wiped clean under the rule of the Elders would anything that had happened here previously be worth remembering?

I wondered what would become of the great monuments and paintings if this world were to fall. Who would pay their respects to the memorials? Everything about this place survived in a balance. If too much from the other realms were to seep through what hope lied in defending it? Certainly some part of Ashlynn and her father knew this. Otherwise they would have felt no need to intervene.

The subject exhausted my mind. Protecting this world and preparing to revive Dungard all while awaiting orders from Nicolious on what our plans were for the revolt on the Elders was too much for me. I desperately wished it would have all been spaced out evenly in my lifetime.
