Scarlett returned to cheer practice feeling quite shaken. It was not the fact that she had been terrorized by two strangers, it is what they knew. How had they known about what had happened with Chuck? She struggled to steady her hands. There was no such thing as powers and if so she certainly did not have any. What had happened on Friday was an accident.

“Your friends are complete bitches.” Jackie glared at Scarlett. “Keep them out of my school.”

“Jackie you don’t run the school.”

The blonde marched up to Scarlett. Their noses were only an inch apart. “I am the captain of this squad. Which means my name matters. Which means this is my school.”

Scarlett smirked sarcastically. “Oh excuse me Miss Strencoff cheerleader slash administrator. I did not realize. Well now that I know who is in charge can you do something about the food in the cafeteria? Its give me a S give me a H give me a I give me a T. Now what does that spell?”

“Shit?” Jackie’s upper lip curled.

“Ooh.” Scarlett cooed and gave Jackie a small applause. “That’s impressive. You were able to figure out a four letter word. Now lets get one that describes you S-L-U-T.”

“Bitch!”

“Nope sorry wrong answer.” Scarlett laughed as she avoided Jackie’s open hand. “Really now? You were just going to slap me? Sticks and stones Strencoff. Sticks and stones.”

Andy, the squad’s best flier quickly stepped between the two girls. She was one of those girls that was pretty without having to try. Her mother had raised her to be a little debutant. She could turn the other cheek to many behaviors that were unladylike but bad language and fighting was not one of them. “Girls! Please can’t we just get along? We are teammates.”

Jackie turned on her. “Andy if you do not butt out of this I will strangle you with those stupid pearls you wear everyday.”

“Hey!” Scarlett shoved Jackie back. “That was a terrible thing to say. She did not do anything to you.”

Before Scarlett could react Jackie had lunged at her. Both girls tumbled to the hard gym floor with echoing thuds. Jackie shrieked when Scarlett grabbed a huge tuft of her hair and tugged. In response Jackie dug her perfectly manicured nails into Scarlett’s neck. The girls were still screaming and kicking in rage when the rest of the squad had forced them apart. Jackie was spewing a stream of cuss words and threats that Scarlett returned with fury.
