A story about betrayal and distrust. The atmosphere is tense so I try to lighten it up a bit with the names- Tom, Dick and Harry. Enjoy!

The night was silent, the moon hidden; the stars had fled along with the wind. The silence screamed through the impenetrable darkness. There was a stillness about the night that had dogs cowering into their cages with their tails between their legs and cats slinking beneath tables. The beasts as well as the elements seem to perceive that the night was like no other, how right they were!

Harry hummed softly as he cleaned one side of his father’s car while Dick cleaned the other side the next morning. It was 9am. He could feel Dick’s eyes on him but he pretended not to notice. He knew Dick would say what was on his mind when he was ready. Dick cleared his throat but Harry still paid no attention to him.
“Harry…”
“Yes?’
“It’s 9am “, Dick looked pointedly in the direction of the kitchen. “So? Harry was not always the most patient person to be around.
‘So I am hungry, aren’t you?
Harry shook his head.
‘If you are hungry then go make yourself something to eat”
“Promise should be doing that! It’s 9am and she is still asleep in her room. You would never let me sleep that long but you let her. You always take her side and I am getting sick and tired of it!”, Dick said resentfully throwing the towel into a bucket and storming off. Harry watched his retreating form thoughtfully then continued cleaning the car.
