Isis and Osiris a ancient and passionate romance retold by Author April Thomas.
Part 5
“The coffin you have stashed away, give it to me and help me out of this kingdom with it.” Isis did not hesitate in her request, with pleading eyes she hung breathless for her response.
“Yes, my queen,” she answered a bit confused by the odd request, it was nothing that she had expected. However she did not question Isis, quickly she summoned her most trusted servants and they successfully lead Isis and Osiris’ coffin out of the kingdom under the cloak of night.
Finally Isis made it too a safe place just at the outskirts of her own kingdom, the weight of her heart brought her down to her knees she threw her body on the coffin and sobbed, out of her intense grief she needed to see his face one more time.
Isis broke open the coffin and to her surprise Osiris looked to be only asleep, his body had not deteriorate and a peaceful smile was on his face. Hope grew in her heart because she knew that she could reawaken him.
“My Pharaoh, my husband, my brother, my friend my love for you will never end and when I die we’ll meet again, a new life we will begin.” She whispered while stroking his cheek.
Quickly hiding his coffin behind some bushes and under shrubs she then raced off to get the necessary supplies to reawaken Osiris. Upon entering her kingdom, her heart broke at the sight of a statue being erected in Set’s honor. Osiris’ people who had once known happiness peace and joy were now bitter, cold and dark.
“What has become of our kingdom?” She whimpered, Isis knew that reawakening Osiris would not only be for her but the kingdom they so loved.
News of Isis returning to the kingdom spread quickly and Set knew that Osiris would not be far from her. He searched the entire kingdom for the coffin but could not find it anywhere. Exhausted and in desperate need to relieve himself he found a secluded area to relieve himself, as he stepped behind a large bush and stumbled upon Osiris’ coffin.
“Oh dear brother, what joy I will now have to finally put a final end to your reign.” He revealed in the joy of his discover.
He pulled out an axe he had hidden under his garments and with all his might he chopped the coffin into 14 different pieces, He collected 13 of the 14 pieces and scattered them across the universe. He left just one last piece to let Isis know what he had done.
Hours later Isis returned to find the one remaining piece of her husbands’ coffin. Air escaped her lungs and her knees went weak. The tools she spent countless hours searching for now lay in the sand around her. She began to wail and groan at the realization that there would be no hope to reawaken her soulmate again.
