Jan Jourge and Judd Sanders were cast members with Denise Shore in the TV series, "School Days". When they left the show they were cast in movies and were seeing success in movies that exceeded that in TV. Then a broken hydraulic line on a set scalded them with hot oil. Before they are even taken from the set the studio starts working to absolve itself of blame which will leave them without compensation.

Jan is the second of a series of stories with a cast common to the whole series. Other stories in the series include Sandra, and Karen, and then Denise, the one that brings them all together. By the time the manual was starting to take shape the three engineers came into the office. Each picked up the first hundred pages of the manual and started studying it. The studio engineer was with them as the checked the ride. Part way through this the studio engineer spotted something that didn’t look right. There were four cooling pumps in the diagrams but only two on the unit. He looked at the plumbing. The coolers had been re-configured. But the information was clear, with two coolers the unit could be run except in temperatures over 100 degrees. The temperature was a very comfortable seventy-six; nowhere near the critical temperature. He noted this and called the operator and the senior engineer over. The engineer took a picture of the panel before he would allow anyone to turn any breakers. He would turn them off to see if any of them were tripped. He checked. No breaker was tripped. The operator then turned on the main breaker as requested. The electrical controls came alive. They then turned each breaker on for a few seconds. The four main pumps each came on line as did the four fans. Each made enough noise to be obvious. When they turned on the first cooling pump there was no noise. The operator thought this was because the motor was too quiet to be heard. He turned off that motor and turned on the other. The noise, although not loud was definitely there. He turned off the breaker and turned on the one to the other pump. The pump was not running. A check of the motor showed it had a tripped thermal overload.
