"Hopefully you’re not a mirage this time. Oh, and what about your daughter, Unah, I mean surely you’re not going to keep her in that form"?

Gobber the goliath was a bulky man, heavily made up as a clown.  He immediately touched his round red nose, with both his hands and it honked out aloud.  He then began to prance around John trying to lighten his mood and make him laugh.  Just as he was about to stroke John with his leather gloves, to tickle him all over, Unah’s father came forward.

“Not now, Gobber.  The challenge has been rescheduled within the next fifteen minutes.   I know how anxious you are to get it over with.  Stand aside.”  He spoke with clenched teeth.  This time, John could make him out more clearly.

“Hopefully you’re not a mirage this time.  Oh, and what about your daughter, Unah, I mean surely you’re not going to keep her in that form?”

     Unah’s father began to laugh.

“Hah ha ha ha ha.  You are indeed a very clever man, Mr Werewolf.”

“The name’s werewood, John Werewood.”  “Yes, I guessed that only you could be mad enough to morph your beloved daughter into an ostrich as you knew she was making a getaway.  You can do what you like to me, but let the girl go.”

“Shall I finish him off now, master?”   Asked Gobber, who now stood close to Unah’s father.

Unah’s father stared at the wall clock and nodded in approval.

“As your host, I wish you both all the best, though I must confess, you are indeed a tough competitor, John were… ”

“Woods.”  Said John, cutting him off.  Unah’s father clapped his hands and ushered John to a large ring where, as Unah had described correctly, there were two chairs, back to back.  A red one and a blue one.    As Gobber was the champion, he took his rightful place in the red chair.  John sat on the blue chair and was dwarfed by Gobber, who was eight feet 9 inches.  Unah’s father then sounded a bell which was a signal for the refree to appear and when he did, John got the biggest shock of his life, nearly falling off his chair.

     “Peter!!  You betrayed me.”

“Sorry old boy, like I said earlier, I just had to see you with a smile on your face.  Funny thing is, Mansions are normally associated with scaring people.  Manic Mansion is the opposite.  It’s to make people laugh.”

“How could you do this to me? You’re my agent.  We’ve known each other for over twenty years.”

“Silence!!”  Howled Unah’s father.  He clapped his hands and an attractive lady appeared.  It was her job to sound the gong.

Unah’s father stared up at the clock as the seconds ticked away and when it reached 10.30 a.m, he cried.

“Let the challene commence…NOW!!!”  And the lady sounded the gong.

End of Chapter 14.

Aha. I had Peter pegged but I can’t figure out what happens next. The ostrich thing has me intrigued.
