Karen Harris is a young woman who narrowly escapes death on the freeway. The group is there but Darin’s song is to Karen.

Darin pulled the mic a little closer and started to play on the keyboard. The music was just background as he talked. “A few of you know about my life the last few years. Six years ago I was in the good times. Things were going well. The sun was shining. The birds were chirping. The flowers were blooming. Everything seemed so good. I knew God was with me every day.”

While he was saying this the sound of birds chirping came out of the speakers. He looked around, then back at Karen then pulled a run on the keyboard. “Then something happened. My world turned upside down. Clouds covered the sky. There we no birds. Everything turned wrong.” He pulled a run down in pitch on the keyboard. It was followed by a clap of thunder and the sound of rain. The leader looked back and smiled. Darin was creating the sounds on the keyboard as he talked. He wondered if Darin had some lightning to add. Right now he would not bet against it. As he thought it there were three flashes. It took a couple seconds to realize they were camera flashes that were timed just right, not from Darin but by three people in the audience who decided to take pictures at just the right time. He smiled to himself, “El Shaddi, God, my provider had done it again.” Darin continued, “And I walked around in a daze for a couple days.

Actually it was more like a couple months. I had quit playing. Then the group asked me to play keyboard and I did. I was afraid to sing because sometimes I get emotional and cry. I realized recently that Johnny Cash had songs he would only sing when there was a backup so that if he broke down someone continued. And I am getting past that. Then one night I was looking for a song we were going to do and I searched youtube.  I wanted to hear how someone did it.  Another song with the title “God on the Mountain” came up in the list. I knew God was supposed to be with me but I wasn’t sure of it some days and I was sure I wasn’t on the mountain. The name got to me so I clicked on it and a beautiful woman named Lynda Randel started singing. She caught me on the first couple phrases and this has been with me since. Some days I sing it twenty times.
