During the program they agree to take calls after the program. When the phones have been cleared Diane and Patti get one from the past.
Diane laughed, “Don’t do anything stupid. Take it slow and in little pieces.”
“We will.”
“Did my receptionist get your address and phone number?”
“Yes.”
“Good. You will be getting a package from the show. We have a package we give to guests. I think you should have one.”
“You don’t have to do that.”
“Actually, I do. And I may have someone contact you in the next few days. I would really love to have you come out here and be in the audience, you and your daughter. I will see if we can fly you out.”
“It will be a short flight. We live less than ten miles from your studio.”
Denise pushed the mute button. “Do you think it would be a problem if I wanted to take her daughter out to dinner and maybe a little dancing?”
Patti looked at her and then laughed. “I just thought, “how will two women with missing legs dance.” I guess I have a way to go.”
“Actually, Carol and Diane, could you come along if I get the whole family to come?”
“Sure. I have to call home and let them know.”
“I have to call too. But yes.”
Patti pushed the button. “Julie, Denise wanted to take your daughter to dinner and then out dancing. I would like to know if you and your family are free tonight. If they are, I will make reservations and they can have dinner with Denise, Diane, Carol and me.”
“We couldn’t ask that.”
“You didn’t. I did. I will have someone give you a call in about a half hour with the place and time. I assume there are four of you?”
“Yes.”
“Could you come? If not tonight, maybe later in the week.”
“Tonight would be fine. We were just going to be here. We don’t go out much.”
“Good. There is a little Italian place about three miles from here that I like. It will probably be there. I have to clean up after the show before I leave.”
“Sure.”
When they terminated the call Patti looked over at Diane. “I would like to have your family and Carol’s with us but I think that is not good tonight. Let’s look at doing that some other time, I am busy the next couple nights, let’s try for next week. Tonight I think it has to be just us.”
“Sure. I understand.”
“Do you two mind coming like you are? I mean with your pegs?”
“No.”
“I was planning to.”
“Good.”
“I have to get some of my things and take them to the car.”
“I’ll have one of the people here help you.”
