We skip two years and meet Karen and Patti on the set.
Karen and Patti opened show number seven hundred together. Patti started.
“Today is show seven hundred for the two of us. We are doing a series this week of people who have been with us, people who have impacted our lives, people we have come to love. Some of them you have seen before, some of them were touched by the program or by people who watched.”
Karen continued. “I am still awed as I sit next to this woman and see the wisdom and character she has. I hope I have grown in being with her, and I hope to some day get close to as wise as she is.”
“I am embarrassed every time she talks about me. She has no idea how really wise she is or how little I know.”
“Thanks. I have an announcement to make today and to do that I will bring out a special guest, Darin King.”
Darin came out, Patti hugged him and he sat next to Karen.
“If you don’t know this is Darin King, my husband.”
Darin nodded.
“Darin. It is your show.”
The camera went in to a close up on him. “I want to tell you all that we are expecting an addition to our family in just about six months.” Before it was totally out the audience, with no prompting went wild clapping and cheering. Karen stood and slipped off a long jacket. She was wearing a maternity outfit that showed her belly clearly as she turned sideways and pulled it against her belly.
Karen continued. “I am just so awed by this.”
When it settled down Patti took the lead. “I have wanted to do this for nearly three years, we decided today was the day to do it. I want to introduce my husband John Garber, and my four children, John III., Penny, James, and Judy.” The five came out. “John Jr. is seventeen, Penny is sixteen, James is thirteen and Judy is twelve. I am not going to ask them to talk but I want to say this. One of the reasons I seem to know a lot is having this group to keep me in line. In addition I have four other people I want you to meet. First, Paul and Susan Frank, will you come out.” The curtain opened and a couple came out. It was obvious the woman was Patti’s mom. “This is my mom and dad. And not to be placed second in any way I want to present you with John and Donna Garber. Their impact is only less because they had less time to be there for me. But they in that time poured a lot into the man who has stood by my side has been of great benefit to me and my children. These four have poured their lives and knowledge into me as well as exposing me to the wisdom of having lived more than twenty years longer than me. They have encouraged me when things were bad, have helped us and seen us through the years. When Karen talks about me being so wise, look at this and you will see where I have had opportunities beyond measure.”
