Ken comes through when it looks like nothing will work.

Fred was getting the electronics packages together and Dr. Western was working on having the surgery video taped as a training aid. There were literally thousands of patients who could benefit. Even at three a day, a grueling pace, he couldn’t operate on all of them. Dr. Foltz had done Barb’s surgery so he was now able to handle the operation. Two residents had assisted and had seen the operation. On the programming side there was only Kathy. Wendy had spent some time with her. Maybe she would be qualified and interested. As he was musing through the needs of his organization, Fred broke in.

“Did you order some more things for me?”

“Like what?”

“There’s a truck downstairs with all kinds of electronics on it. If I counted right there’s six computers like the ones we use for monitoring and programming with racks and carts. They even have battery backup so we could keep them running while moving them. It looks like I have two complete assembly benches and most of the test equipment for them. There’s a bunch of other stuff I didn’t even look at. It’s like Christmas. There’s even office furniture. There’s another no charge invoice on the shipment.”

“Do we have room for it?”

“Sure. It’ll be a little tight but I’ll make it fit. Now, all I need is two more sets of hands to help me get the electronics together. I’ve got the hardware to build over fifty computers but it takes over a week for each of

them. I’m sure that’ll come down but I sure can’t handle the work that it looks like I have coming.”

“See what you can do. I have a couple of ideas on staffing. You know; if the approval comes to start moving, we’ll be busier than we are now?”

“Yep. Wouldn’t it be great?”

“Sure. I’ll talk to you later.”

Dr. Western put in a call to Ken. “Did you have something to do with the truck I have unloading here?”

“Maybe a little. I just mentioned some of your needs to a couple of my friends in the electronics industry. I can’t be responsible for what they do about it.”

“Ken, you’re wonderful. I think I have much of the equipment I was going to order. We would have waited six to ten weeks for some of this and paid a premium price to get it then. It’s unreal. I just want to say thanks.”
