Ben stared at Marli in silence. If she had lived, then there was no coincidence that she would just appear at his school. She had to be there for a reason, maybe it was revenge, he did try to kill her after all. He couldn’t deal with the silence though, he needed to know why she was there, he needed to find peace with these unsettling questions that bounced around in his mind, if he didn’t then the possibilities would drive him insane.

The bell finally rang. Ben quickly paced to Marli’s desk and put his hand on her shoulder, holding her to the seat she was currently occupying. “Don’t move.” He ordered in a hushed tone. Her petite frame froze and she nodded slowly. Suddenly, he felt a hand strike his face.

“Let go of her, ass hole!” The blond girl commanded. Ben stood there silently, in shock of what just happened. That was a first for him, being hit let alone by a girl.

“No, no it’s fine, he just needs to ask me some things, I’ll meet you after school, okay Night?” The redhead said with a soft smile. That surprised him even more, Marli read his mind like he used to read hers.

“Okay…but if he tries to touch you I’ll castrate him.” She said in a very convincing tone. They all nodded and the teacher just wore an expression of utter confusion.

“Mar, maybe we can take this outside?” Ben asked calmly.

“Who are you to be calling me that?” She sassily replied.

“Ha-ha very funny. Come on let’s go…” He said as he put his arm around her shoulders and quickly led her out the door.

“Who are you anyway?” Marli asked him.

“What are you talking about, Mar? It’s me, don’t you remember?”

“No, I don’t think I’ve met you.” Ben was stunned, Marli had been acting like she knew him all this time, now when they’re alone she decides to play dumb? What on earth was she trying to pull here?

“Mar, it’s me, remember? From London…” He said, trying not to bring up the whole murder incident.

“Ah, that’s right when you ripped out a chunk of my flesh and left me to die. That was fun alright.” She said, obviously still pissed about the whole thing.

“Yep, that’s it. Why are you here?” He sighed and leaned over her.

“Because you didn’t finish the job, not my fault I survived your attack, my bad for breathing. You know that hurt a lot-” He silenced her with a kiss. That time it was Marli’s turn to be stunned. She hadn’t felt that in over a century, and god did it feel good.

“Sorry about that…old habits die hard…” Ben cleared his throat and pulled away. “But you know what I meant, what are you doing at my school?”

“U-Uhm…It’s hard to explain, but to put it simply I-” A security guard came around and glared at both of them.

“Excuse me, where are you two supposed to be?” The man asked sternly.

“Stuff it, old timer.” Ben rolled his eyes and shooed him off. Marli just raised an eyebrow.

“I should be heading over to my class anyway, nice talking to you, Ben. Though, I don’t think we should do this again, the conversation was overall pretty dull, won’t you agree?” She smirked and pulled her hair back up and Ben noticed that the mark he once saw in 1879 was still there with scars around it. But there was something about that new embellishment, rather than being the light gold, it was black. Azrael, the angel of death, was back.
