This is a short story that I am writing. I will post this story in chapters as it is written so to entertain and find out if its is worth completing. If you like what is published so far. please let me know.

Sitting at the kitchen table Jim sips his coffee and comes to life. Looking at the junk mail on the table all piled in a neat pile that Sarah placed for the morning ritual examination of “stuff”.  One of the things they both shared and had in common, of course. Rifling through the morning adds looking for possibly a new tool or some new gadget that might never improve their lives to any avail. At any rate, so their they were.

Out of the corner of Sarah’s eye she spots their two children while looking for the creamer in one of the cabinet’s. She notices them both in the other room fighting. The oldest, David, having the younger, Eugene, in a headlock trying to dig something out of his little brother’s mouth. Without any greater effort, she turns her head to look at them without causing a stir. She notices the thing their two children are fighting over is a piece of gum “Honey,” says Sarah. “Did you buy more gum or something yesterday?”

Jim replies while digging pseudo-excitedly through the pile on the table. “No. I found some gum though in my shoe when I woke up. I thought you were hinting about my breath when I woke up, so I had a piece. Is my breath still bad?”

“Oh Honey!” Sarah replies. “You didn’t.” Sarah begins to walk towards the kids.

“Ok; give it to me!” Sarah yells firmly to the kids. “Spit it my hands too, now!”

Jim turns in his chair to glance at what Sarah is doing in the living room. He notices her taking the gum from their kids and stops chewing his. “What’s wrong honnie?”

“Oh honey!  I found that gum in the bathroom behind the toilet yesterday. Must have been their since we moved in. I threw it in our trash in the bedroom.” Explained Sarah.  “How did you get it?”

Jim stares at the floor looking at his shoes trying to remember everything that he did last night and the fact he found the gum in his shoes. After noticing a slight flare of urine smell from his breath, he remembers.  “I must have put it in my pocket when I dropped my glasses in the bathroom, I don’t know.” Says Jim after swallowing his gum.

Confused, Jim gets up and starts making his way upstairs to the master bathroom. “I’m gonna take a shower ok.” Sarah of course responds with the typical “ok”, but Jim tries not to notice and makes his dash to the bathroom. Of course the first thing Jim does going into the bathroom is grabbing the toothpaste and brush while closing the bathroom door at the same time. Thus starts yet another typical day for Sarah and Jim.
