Chapter Four

The ride home was quiet and awkward.  Jimmy made a couple attempts to lighten the mood but he eventually stopped once he noticed Olivia still wasn’t paying much attention to him.  Her experience alone in the park kept her thinking and now she was curious.
It could’ve been anything!  It probably was a squirrel, Livi—but what if it wasn’t?  And how many squirrels that you know of have red eyes?

All sorts of questions kept popping up but she didn’t have answers for any of them.  She was now bound and determined to figure out what was going on.  She wasn’t even thinking about asking Jimmy for help, she was going to figure it out all by herself.

They finally made it back to Olivia’s house and by the looks of the empty driveway the quilting party was over.  She was just about to open the car door when Jimmy suddenly stopped her.

            “We need to talk.”
Olivia looked at him for once hearing him.  She reoccupied her spot in the passenger’s seat and her thoughts were no longer lingering on her unanswered questions but instead on Jimmy who was obviously working up the courage to speak.  “Alright,” she said patiently pushing him along.

“Well, did you have a fun night?”
Olivia raised an eyebrow, “Okay, really?”

            “Sorry—stupid question.”
“Don’t dance around this Jimmy, just say what you need to say.”

Jimmy’s eyes fell to his hand as he sighed.  “It isn’t much, and it’s not that big of a deal but I’m sure you’re curious as to what Colton was talking about when he talked about me getting him out of a tight spot.”
Olivia bit her lip and eagerness filled her eyes.  Finally!  At least one secret comes out.  She waited for him to go on.
