After the big tidy up now we are starting the fun part of growing all of our own plants and sowing seeds in the greenhouse……and work has started on the chicken pen too!

After just a week we have already filled the greenhouse with lots of vegetable plants that we have sown from seed, the tomatoes are growing on strong and we are in the process of chitting our potatoes ready for planting out in to the ground.

We are also having a dabble at growing most of our own herbs, i mention herbs quite often in some of my gardening columns so thought i had better practise what i preached and already have lots of garlic growing away………. yummy i love fresh garlic for cooking.

We have already planted out our onion sets and look forward to seeing them shoot up from the ground, we have also put out our first couple of rows of early potatoes and in just a few months  time will be enjoying them at home in our cooking shenanigans.

I never used to be a fan of the good old cucumber but the past year or so i have braved them and quite enjoyed them on salads etc so this year we are growing a couple of different varieties, “Telegraph” is a normal long green fruit and we have got some “Golden globe” which grows like an apple and is sweet to the taste!

My partner has started work on our new chicken pen so hopefully in a few weeks we will be the parents of some happy and healthy free range hens, we will probably only have around six but that will be enough to keep us supplied with fresh eggs and probably our families too.

Oh my! you got me so interested I am anxious to see the next article…..about it. For myself last year I had to destroy all my plantation and frontyard and backyard because of major work around the house. Now all is dirt around the house no grass nothing. So slowly I will be back and fixing another garden and some flowers gardening too…….i love it….tks for sharing you give me the boost to look forward for mine….tks

You’re really doing the “Good Earth” thing. It’s great you are getting so back to nature.
