Sandra Ball is a young actress who’s career was propelled by appearances in two spy thriller movies. As the result of an accident she is injured, trapped, and alone in a wooded area. She is rescued but faces a shattered career and a vastly altered life. Will that life be cut short by men more dangerous than the spies she faced on the screen?
At fifteen till seven the van pulled up. They took their bags and headed out. A couple in their sixties met them at the door. “I’m Harry. My assistant is Dora. She has breakfast on. I get to eat first to see if the food is safe to eat. It hasn’t killed me yet.”
The man helped them with their things. It was a forty foot RV with two bedrooms. Amanda was shown to one, her parents to the other. They could sleep if they liked. Breakfast was on the table. The woman served them then sat down to eat as Harry pulled out. When they finished eating Amanda and Joan helped clear the table. Harry called on the intercom and asked for a cup of coffee. Dora filled a travel mug. Amanda reached for it. “May I take it up to him? I’d like to see up front. I mean if I’m allowed.”
“Sure. Just don’t believe any of the stories he tells. He was a writer, an expert at fiction. That is sometimes also called bullshitting.”
Amanda took the coffee, opened the door to the driver’s area and entered. He took the coffee, took a sip and placed it in a holder. “Have a seat if you like.”
She took the right seat. It was a comfortable.
After a few minutes she asked the question. “How do you know Sandra?”
“She played a part in a TV series I directed when she was twelve. We never lost touch. She and her sister lived with us for a while after their parents were killed. She is one really great girl. They both did a few things during that time that they never did before, both tried drugs and alcohol, ran with a tough crowd for a while. It lasted a couple months, then they realized the rules their parents had were good. They started asking us if they should do something. We couldn’t stop them if they wanted to but as far as I know they only ignored us once. They wound up calling us to come get them. Sandra caught the guy trying to put ecstasy in her drink, then realized Sally had already been drugged. She made Sally stay with her, called me and we picked her up. The two guys were mad, they tried to stop us, I called the cops, both were arrested. They both had pending charges. Sally was tested, she had the drug in her and Sandra had wisely poured a small amount of her drink into an empty pill bottle she carried earrings in. They never did that again.”
