Sandra Ball is a young actress who’s career was propelled by appearances in two spy thriller movies. As the result of an accident she is injured, trapped, and alone in a wooded area. She is rescued but faces a shattered career and a vastly altered life. Will that life be cut short by men more dangerous than the spies she faced on the screen? Sandra is the first of a series of stories with a cast common to the whole series.

By Monday morning at eight Samuel Berkz had the papers ready. Judge Evans signed a series of orders and Samuel carried them to the Sheriff’s office. It was agreed that they would be served with dispatch and as near to simultaneously as possible.

At two PM deputies walked into the two hospitals, three doctor’s offices, the studio office, the office of a surveillance company and the office of the studio lawyer. A similar order had been transferred to the county sheriff at the hospital where Joan worked and a sheriff arrived three with the papers. Samuel had written the orders carefully to prevent any reason for valid protest. His basic request was for preservation of records not access. The access would be requested later if needed and it would certainly be protested. He requested three copies of Sandra’s records be made in the deputy’s presence, sealed in three separate and labeled boxes and they be taken under guard to Judge Evans’ chambers. The judge would hold the documents till access rulings were made. By five PM all the documents were at her office except the ones from the out of town hospital. Samuel was waiting at the door to the chambers when the deputies started arriving. Three lawyers from the studio law firm, two hospital lawyers, the lawyer for the hospital Joan worked at, the surveillance company lawyer and lawyers for the doctors had already called the judge and all but the out of town lawyer were proceeding to her chambers.

By five thirty five everyone was present except the out of town lawyer who agreed to participate by speaker phone. He began the call by telling the judge all requested records were already in the hands of a local deputy who was at that time driving to her office with them. The deputy had called the judge and confirmed he had the documents before he left the hospital. The lawyer expressed a few concerns about the action. These were personal medical records. They should be treated as documents containing very personal information. They were the records of a celebrity, there was a profit motive to obtaining them. His biggest concern was that they be kept safe. “I’ve represented this hospital for twenty years and my dad the preceding thirty. The privacy practices he set up for them when he came nearly fifty years ago needed only a little fine tuning to meet HIPPA requirements. They had a mess with records about a year before he came here. He told them if they did what he advised they could make a repeat nearly impossible. I don’t want this young lady hurt more by someone getting her medical records. Judge, I have asked the deputy to retain custody till he can hand them to you and not even leave them unattended. Can you assure me that they will be properly taken into your personal custody, secured under lock and key with only your personal access and released only in compliance with HIPPA regulations or your orders?”
