News Update: L.J. Smith Was Fired
L.J. Smith recently released the first book in the Vampire Diaries the Return series (also becoming well known as “Damon’s Trilogy”) titled NightFall. This new series focusing more on “bad boy” Damon delves into the darkest corners of the characters mind and then amplifies them with demonic possession in NightFall. Throughout this first book Damon terrorizes all of the humans he once cared about due to his possession…and yet we often see glimpses of the real Damon as he fights the demons within for control. Who will ultimately win? Can Damon make amends and find salvation in the 2nd book of “Damon’s Trilogy” Shadow Souls?
A question I’m dying to ask the author….will Damon choose Elena or Bonnie? I’m personally rooting for Bonnie; I think she needs a strapping hot vampire to care for her…among other things.
I’ve titled this article Shadow Souls teaser because I do in fact have a teaser for you. With many emails and a little patience L.J. Smith has given me an awesome teaser to share with my readers. I’m still pushing for an interview so cross your fingers and wish me luck!

A Teaser for Vampire Diaries: Shadow Souls
Elena and Damon reached the motel room just after midnight.
“What’s wrong?” Elena sat on the bed, swinging up her legs to support her head on a pillow which sank beneath her unsatisfactorily. She liked her pillows firm.
“Nothing.” Damon was at the window, pretending to be engrossed in something beyond the shrubbery outside.
“What nothing?”
Damon shook his head.
Elena examined the room with the too-bright vision of the seriously sleep-impaired. She must not have really slept at all last night on her out of body adventure to see Stefan, she thought. She contemplated beige walls, beige carpet, a beige armchair, a beige desk, and of course, a beige bedspread. Even Damon couldn’t reject a room on the grounds that it doesn’t match his basic black, she thought, and then: oh, I’m tired. And frightened. And irritable.
And stupid. There’s only one bed.
“Damon . . . “ With an effort, she rolled over and sat up. “What do you want?” she said. “There’s a chair. I can sleep on the chair.”
OMG!!!!! Now i wanna read it. 
Now its prolly gunna bug me until i read the book and find out what that secret is. I have a feeling i know what it is…but i dont think its right. So..

I think that Stefan and Elena belong together and that Damon and Bonnie belong together but thats just my opinion I though the book came out later this year not February next year:@ Anyway can’t wait I am soooooooo excited :):)

OMG! It totally makes sense… Everybody knows vampires prefer blood of virgins because they say it tastes better… so Damon probably realized it by tasting of her tears.
I really hope he\’ll be her first… But unfortunately, I think Elena will regret and Stefan will forgive her…

Exactly, I always found these hints more of a subtle, “I’ve got nothing to do but your cute” kind of deal. Bonnie thought that Damon was good looking, and she’s fairly meek and easy to pray on. I won’t deny that L.J dropped hints about Bonnie and Damon, i’m not naive. But don’t think a Bonnie/Damon relationship would work. Don’t get me wrong, I to am intrigued by the idea of opposites attract, a sweet innocent girl with a hard cold vampire. Still, Damon needs someone who is kindhearted but willing to stick up to him. Someone who will push him. Elena is the only person who can do that, she and Damon need each other.
These are all just my own personal opinions, so please don’t come knocking on my door with baseball bats and pitchforks.
When I think of a Bonnie/Damon relationship, Instead of actually seeing the two end up together as a COUPLE (which I couldn’t see possibley working) I think it would work with the story better to have Damon realizing not just that he cares for Bonnie, but that he really does care for humans in general (as a broader and more powerful sudden realization) and having this care of humans stem from his kindness towards Bonnie. I hope that wasn’t to confusing XD
Still don’t like the Idea of a Bonnie/Damon relationship. Hoping that Elena and Damon get some hot air time soon on the show
Well, I actually think Matt and Bonnie belong together BECAUSE on L. J. Smith’s website, there are 2 short stories. Read both of them carefully. On the Bonnie & Damon one, Damon says that she was like a child. On the Elena & Matt one, the fortune teller says that Matt belongs with a half-woman, half-child (Bonnie) AFTER he gets over Elena.
And of course, as much as I’d like to think Elena and Damon should be together, I don’t think the author would make it like that. ( Although I would be extremely pleased about it if she does ) Can’t wait for February!
WOW! Thanks for posting this! I loved reading it. I just finished the first part of Dark Reunion and was very depressed that Damon lost his memory. I agree with everyone who thinks Damon and Elena belong together, but I doubt it will ever happen(Still hoping though!). I am a firm believer that the first guy that a girl falls in love with, in a book, should be the one she ends up with in the end. For Damon though, I have to make an exception. With Stefan, Elena fell in love a little TOO quickly. I mean, LJ barely touched on the emotional stuff between them. Personally, it feels like she really makes Elena and Damon connect on a deeper level. For some reason, I really liked Damon from the start! He just seems more REAL than Stefan. I can’t wait for the next book, and am still hoping for Elena and Damon to end up together!
Oh and Bonnie and Damon, to me, are just what Sarah said. Bonnie represents the acceptance of humans that Damon is just starting to feel. If anything, Bonnie teaches Damon that humans are worth something more than to just eat. It’s just the beginning for him…..

I absolutely love this series. I would like it to end up Elena and Damon for sure. They have alot unspoken and unsettled between the both of them, looks like they’ve finally started to get “things” situated, however.

I don’t know Kathy maybe you’re right, in Dark Reunion I was beating of Elena and Damon, but now I want Elena and Stefan together, maybe because I haven’t yet fogive Damon for what he did to Stefan jejeje, because in every book Damon was the bad boy who always do the right thing in the end, and no matter what he say or do, he loves Stefan, and the way he make that deal and make Stefan go away in that dark place … but after I wrote that I looked into the Blog of L J Smith and there is a small description of the other two books, and it kind of make me sad, the next book Damon is bad yet again!, and Elena, Meredith, Bonnie and Matt became his slaves, and in the last one Elena has to decide between Stefan and Damon, so maybe all the Bonnie and Damon is not going to happen… but I don’t know, I think there was a really good posibility between the two of then, if the writter would want that and make that the caracter evolutioned, not right now, not with Bonnie still been that inocent and Damon been that into Elena… jeje
I definately don’t think the author would drop hints about a Bonnie/Damon relationship if she didn’t plan to do SOMTHING with it (but then again, you could say the same about Bonnie/Matt) Even though I am willing to awknowledge that Damon does pay special interest in Bonnie, I still always found that their relationship was a way for Smith to convey Damons growing love of, not simply Bonnie, but humans and general. Instead of her actually developing the two as a romantic interest, what I’m hoping to get from Damon and Bonnie is more of a…not complete character change, but for Damon to finally learn to feel, care for, and over all appreciate human beings (which seems to be a big theme in most of the books, Damons complete lack of respect for the lives of humans in general) Bonnie, because of her plain old Bonnie like innocence and naive charm, is a way to bring out these feelings in Damon.
There is no way to deny Damons love for Elena (although I’m sure some people could put up a good argument Especially well reading Nightfall, the things he says and does really make it extremely plain to me that Damon has true, real feelings of love for Elena. It simply isn’t the “get the girl to p.o. Stefan” relationship that it started out as. They way they interact, and how their relationship has grown throughout the books is amazing.
I have contemplated a Bonnie/Damon relationship, and you know what, if thats how it ends I won’t get THAT upset. I can definately see the potential of it ending like that. It works in a way, I don’t condone the relationship, but I’ve learned to accept it and appreciate it in it’s own way. It sounds corny and stupid, but thats just the way I see it
When i think about it, if Elena choses Damon, what’s there for Stephan? He has always been the one who is loyal to his love. Stephan only and only loves Elena, he doesn’t have any kind of feelings for anyone else. I know that Damon loves Elena but he also has feelings for Boonie. Even Elena is aware of these feelings.
Boonie and Damon have a connetion. There is just something there you know. If LJ wants a happy ending for all, she can always build up Damon and Boonie while there is still time…

I don’t know, i love Damon and i think his character arc to redemption is gonna be really good. But i can’t see a redemption if he once again gets involved with the girl his brother loves and has a relationship with.
The fact that they are brothers and they already have a history of being involved in a twisted triangle that ended badly and turned them both into tortured souls is what makes me resent the idea of an Damon-Elena relationship.
Can’t see how a repeat of the whole Katherine plot will make any good for any of the characters… I know Elena is no Katherine but when you think about, with Katherine, Stephan was the first one who started having a relationship with her, then Damon came and it turned into a triangle.
I love all the characters and i want the best for all of them. I feel like if Damon and Boonie get a chance to know each other more, that “something” between them may turn into a real love…
I can’t see any kind of happiness for Stephan if Elena leaves him for his brother. And i really can’t see Elena being fully happy if she were to chose Damon and leave Stephan.
Coz frankly i believe that Elena can live without Damon but she can not live without Stephan…

Let’s Believe :D, don’t you think it would be great if Damon fall in love with a human! jajajaja after everything he says and think of them. jejeje
You know, thats the only real problem I can think of with a Damon/Elena relationship, how much hurt it would cause Stefan. He’s cared for and loved Elena passionately, theres no reason for him to be dumped like that, losing his loved one to Damon (again) I want Stefan to be happy, but it seems that the only way that will happen is if Elena stays away from Damon (not a great option for me )
Still, Damon deserves to be happy. It seems like no matte what someone will end up hurt, thats the thing about love triangles XD It’s propabley quite obvious i’ve already decided that I think Damon belongs with Elena (or rather, needs her more) he’s far more…troubled, than Stefan, even if he doesn’t show it in the same way. Thats why I would have to disagree about Beths comment that Damon felt little remorse for Elenas death, and rather just “had fun with girls” his emotions may be expressed diferently, but that in no way indicates that they aren’t there. I would guess Damon was just as upset about Elenas death, but as is evident throughout the books, he doesn’t express his inner feelings easily (or at all for the most part) and hides behind a facade of anger, sarcasm, and indifference. That’s what makes him such a compelling character, who doesn’t love a bad boy with a soft side? Elena is the only person who really brings out the real Damon, I love watching them interact.
I honestly don’t know how I’m hoping this series will end. I’m hoping for some sort of jaw dropping, didn’t expext that kind of conclusion XD it don’t love every coupling, i’m just really open to anything! I’ve heard Damon/Meredith, Elena/Caroline, Bonnie/Stefan, shipping can get crazy!

Well I read in the L J Smith blog that in the next book Damon would know what’s feel to have three wifes, Elena, Bonnie and Meredith…
Alrighty, I’m wondering how the series will end. Does anyone else think Damon will sacrifice himself for his love for Elena? As much as I would hate to see this happen, it seems very probable. I mean, think about it….Stefen/Elena, Matt/Bonnie, Meredith/Alaric, etc. So who would Damon end up with? Yes that is the question that I know everyone who loves Damon is thinking of an answer to. For all those who have read A TALE OF TWO CITIES, you know what I mean by Damon=Sydney Carton. I am predicting (but hoping I am completely wrong!) that Damon will give up his life for Elena and Stefen to be happy together. On the other hand, that is kind of predictable, so it might not happen….
Well, if it were up to me, I would get Elena and Damon together. They are the perfect match in my eyes. Stefen is just so….boring. Sorry to all you Stefen lovers but I just don’t get what’s so great about him, despite the fact of him being so nice all the time. I just feel like L.J. didn’t develop his character as much as Damon’s. Although there is about a 130% chance of this NOT happening, I would like to see a new girl come to Fell’s Church and totally blow Stefen away. That would be perfect! That way Damon and Elena could be happy forever and Stefen woouldn’t be super sad. LOL. Unlikely? yes. But hey, a girl can dream……
Gasp! Avery, I think you might have read my mind! When I first read the books, thats EXACTLY what I thought would happen! I guessed Damon would finally realise his love for Elena, but die in some heroic way (I don’t know, maybe she was in a perilous situation and needed saving) to protect Elena. or ultimately sacrifice himself for her, you know, take me Instead of Elena, that kind of deal. Not only would this solve the problem of Elena having to choose Damon or Stefan, it would leave us with a positive image of a character who has developed from…well, downright evil, to caring and ultimately selfless (a complete one eighty from the original Damon) Now, I forced these evil thoughts out of my mind out of sheer love for the character ( you know I just can’t bear to see him die but if given the choice between having him end up alone and unhappy…I just dont’ know.

I cannot WAIT to read Shadow Souls now! This is a side of Damon I’ve never seen and I absolutely LOVE it! Ahhh!!! At first I was all for the Stefan and Elena pairing-but they are almost too easy together a couple. Too simple. I love the intense fire between Elena and Damon though! And I’m defiantly not a Bonnie/Damon supporter-I think she would be best with Matt. Which means maybe a character is going to die? so the pairings will be even and everything? I’m not sure, but this is…omygosh! It doesnt get much more exciting than that

I agree completely Kathryn! It seems like everywhere I look there’s nothing but Damon/Bonnie shippers, it\’s refreshing to see that there actually ARE a lot of Damon/Elena fans out there! Finally people I can identify with! Does anyone know which relationships Smith is a fan of? I’ve always wondered if she had a personal preference for Bonnie/Damon, Damon/Elena, Bonnie/Matt, etc. Just an interesting question.

I’d have to say I disagree with you. Completely. In fact the Damon/Elena relationship was one of the reasons I continued to read the series and still enjoy them to this day. Of course I like Stephen and Elena too, but it doesn’t hold a candle to the witty dangerous humor and passionate love/hate scenarios that goes alone with a nice Damon/Elena banter.
It really depends on the reader, their personal preferences, and how they interpret the text. So I never personally saw a Damon/Bonnie relationship develop, does that make me right? By no means! I think it’s why shipping wars tend to often get nasty, no relationship will appeal to everyone. It’s inevitable. Stinks for Smith though, and I imagine it’s the same for any author writing a love triangle, no matter how the story ends you get unhappy fans.
Like Asma said, she’s going to need to see more signs to feel a Bonnie/Matt relationship would be appropriate. For me it’s the same with Damon and Bonnie. There just isn’t enough to go on for me. We have one scene in the bathroom, a few other occasional tidbits (Or maybe more, they didn’t leave an impact on me) and although it was genuinely a beautiful scene it isn’t enough to convince me. Especially not when the entirety of the rest of the book seemed to focus on just how much Damon cares for Elena.
My personal opinion (everyone’s entitled to one. I’d appreciate if I didn’t get my head ripped off by angry shippers ) Damon\’s instinctive protectiveness of Bonnie was never a love for her as a person, but rather him developing feelings for humans in general (which is a major theme in the story and her development of the Damon character, how little he values the lives of humans) What better way to show this then through his developing protective nature over the most innocent lovable character in the book. Now, it certainly might develop into something more in the future (doubtful that Stefan and Elena will ever be broken up) but for now I stay unconvinced.
As Asma said, Damon’s giving out HINTS that he cares for Bonnie, and I can appreciate that they are there. But through all of these hints of his growing affection I still can’t help but be walloped in the face with these six foot neon signs screeching “Damon loves Elena!” Hey, if you don’t agree, that’s cool! I’m not here to blow raspberries in the faces of people who disagree with me, just stating my little ‘ol thoughts.
How many days before February? Egads, I better find something to pass the time *starts twiddling thumbs impatiently*
Damon can have any girl? Er…I’m not sure that flies with me. Damon can seduce any girl, Damon can have a one night blood-sucking fling with any girl but really so could Stefan (especially if he started drinking human blood, both have sufficient mind powers to accomplish the deed) the one thing Damon can’t seem to develop is a real, functioning, true love relationship with any girl. Except for Elena (oh there relationship certainly isn’t functional, but at least he connects with her on a level that’s more than just “let me sink my teeth in your neck” it’s there, but he actually loves her, not just the basic vampire need to feed.) I loved the scene at the beginning of Nightfall where Damon is replacing Stefan’s letter and he sees Elena sleeping. Instead of an ache in his canines, he felt an ache in his chest, rather then hungrily gazing at the veins in her neck he stares with longing at her lips. He wants to kiss her–badly (which of course is something vampires don’t do.)
Elena and Stefan’s relationship is special, it’s beautiful, but as Carol Anne said, to easy for my liking. Now I know probably, lets say, eighty percent of most VD fans disagree with me. Ah well, that’s the wonderful thing about forum discussions, so many wonderful different opinions.
Now, there seems to be a lot more discussion regarding whether Damon loves Elena as apposed to whether the feeling is reciprocated. As things stand right now I find it impossible to believe that Elena loves Damon as much as Stefan (there just isn’t anything to go one, I want evidence here! ) BUT as stated in a previous comment, Smith revealed in an interview that — “”…And it’s really the story, whatever my publishers may think and whatever other people may not want, it’s the story of Elena falling in love with Damon to the same extent that she is in love with Stefan. So we have a real love triangle.” — ja-eeze, I can only hope. Wonder how that’s going to work out… I don’t think the Stelena relationship will ever really end, that is, they won’t break up. That doesn’t count out the idea of a Stefan-Elena-Damon relationship, it’s more than a little weird but I guess everyone wins then…right? O.O

Most of my comments are like bloody freaking novels in themselves…I give props to anyone who reads all my relatively pointless rambling.
I was about to post some stupid preachy pretentious comment about how we probably shouldn’t post spoilers on this page in case there are those who wish not to see them. Of course, I then realised that the article in itself is a spoiler, so hey, I guess if you don’t want spoilers your already in the wrong place. Go figure. We all have are deeerrrr moments, no?
Meh, it took me a while to warm up to the idea of Stefan and Damon “sharing” Elena (things like that just don’t work. I have a hard enough time sharing the bathroom mirror with my roommate, let alone a human being.) But since the book is about vampires and such, we obviously aren’t going for realism, so I’m just going to sit over here and wave my “everybody wins” flag. I want Delena, but I’ll settle for something that doesn’t result in eternal misery for poor wee Stefan.
Then again, happy endings are just super swell-tastic, but I kind of want something more…unpredictable. Yah right, don’t even go there, you’re wondering why I’m even bothering reading YA fiction if I don’t want a fun cliche or two. It’s not that I want an unhappy ending (does anyone?) just something more than having each character happily paired off (well, there might be one odd man out. Probably Matt if things boil down to a Stefan/Elena relationship. Sad face.) skipping off through a field of daisies as a happy unicorn flies overhead singing a jolly tune. Well, that’s my two cents, you don’t have to agree with it. By all means, disregard it completely if you so feel the need to…

My prediction: The secret is that Elena is his soulmate. He says everyone else was saying one thing, and his mind was telling him something else. Everytime she sees him, she feels something deep within her soul, and back in book two when she woke up as a vampire she thought she was born to be with Damon and loved him.
I feel bad for Stephan, because he does love her, and he was always good to her, but Damon is who she needs to be with.

LJ Smith’s own site says that in Shadow Souls, to enter Hell, the girls, Meredith, Bonnie, and Elena have to enter as slaves to a vampire (Damon). Then for Midnight, on the amazon.uk. site it says that price to free the prisoner Stephan, Damon must become human.

I hope Elena remains human, and thus chooses Damon, because he is now human. It wouldn’t work out with Stephan, him remaining a vampire, and not aging etc.
Perhaps during this teaser scene, they do end up doing it physically, and Elena conceives a half-vampire/half-human child? Then Stephan can raise it if its more vampirish. I don’t know, just a thought.
I don’t know how Stephan will get a happy ending though. Maybe
If Damon human to free Stefan I would be very very very upset, since this is the one thing Stefan has always wanted Then again, it could make sense because sometimes Damon does seem to come in second. Although, me being a believer (and I think experienced) in true love I think Stefan and Elena need and should end up together. There has never been another choice for Elena other than Stefan. I think any other feelings she has for Damon, or anyone for that matter, do not compare to how she feels for Stefan. There connection is on a different more definite level. Although Damon is exciting and it could work, I think Damon is attracted to Elena because she is unattainable and has changed his view on his life (or lack there of lol.) She, along with her friends, taught him that he didn’t have to hate or resent humans. For some reason I feel Stefan and Elena are a bond that cannot be broken even though there are many many temptations. I don’t believe Stefan would be mad if anything happend between Elena and Damon while he was away (to see if the feelings are real) because he knows he and Elena are meant to be.
I don’t want Damon or Stefan to be unhappy and really uncertain about the Damon/Bonnie scenario. I don’t find it that believable but it would be a quick fix. Maybe Damon will realize he doesn’t want to hurt his brother, or hell maybe they both will, and let him have Elena without questioning it.
Another theory though, as much as wish this could not be the case, is if Kathrine was Stefans TRUE LOVE. Not saying Elena wasn’t meaningful but just not meant to be compared to Damon. The marriage thing with the chair can represent although I think Damon did that purposely. This could also happen with Damon realizing Kathrine was his true love. In the TV series they definitely make him seemed more focused on her rather than Elena.
Let me know your thoughts. I love reading this and hearing everybodys ideas. It really makes me wonder even though I do hope for Stefan/Elena. I do want Damon and all the other characters happy. Can’t wait for the March 2010 release!!!!!! So far away though

maybe when l.j. smith wrote that it was her original plan to have more books after the original and dark reunion, so she could have an elena damon twist, but she waited so long to make it really good, and now is the perfect time for a vampire series, that is the one thing twilight was ever any good for!

I was so desperate like how can’t you see that elena loves damon!! I was also frustrated because almost everyone was for damon and bonnie… i was like did we read the same book??? How can someone see damon and bonnie together but can’t see all the hints about matt & bonnie !!

So DE shippers don’t count as fans now? happy endings are subjective, and although I’m sure there are many fans who would view Elena and Damon ending up together an atrocity (or just plain unrealistic if you ask me), to disregard their opinions as those of unreal fans who don’t understand the story seems a little like a slap in the face to them too, no? Opinions are just opinions, interpretations belong solely to the one who’s making them, there will ALWAYS be an unhappy fan even if a happy ending is promised.
I don’t think a DE relationship will be the end result of this series, I really don’t. Most of what the SE shippers have said is unarguably true, Stefan and Elena’s relationship has been developing for four books (I’m not counting Nightfall, Stefan only made the first fifty pages) and disregarding that wouldn’t make much sense at all. That said, I don’t think it’s impossible for Elena to feel the love for Damon that she does for Stefan. There relationship is real, it’s there and I think it will boil down to something a lot deeper and more difficult for Elena to handle than we can speculate at the moment.

A very good book cause it’s a little bit different from: they lived happily ever after with her first love (in this case Stefan) –> BORING !! And Bonnie should die cause it will bring more action. Some people think Damon has a thing for Bonnie and Bonnie is Elena’s bestfriend. Then if she dies, Damon will be closer to Elena cause they will both feel each other pain… NO WAY!! That’s totally not Damon sorry!!
So the best way is Damon and Elena! end of story

Okay, I know some people have different opinions and I do too. I have read every single one of the comments that people have posted on this page. I also can’t wait until the sixth book comes out which is Shadow Souls in which all of you know.
I do believe the book comes out on March 16 2010 so when she said it would be finished on Febuary 9 but thats probably when she will be finished writing it and then the editor will clean it up. Anyways I wanted to comment on the couples and who ends up with who strategies that everyone has some great deal in talking about.
Well I am for sure Team Damon. To some people who are Team Stefan I know what you want to prove and I was on Team Stefan but then I started read the books over again and look over them in deep emotion. I know that Elena cannot live without Stefan, but when you look at Damon from his nature and what he has been through in his lifetime. Damon is exciting you never know whats going to happen and whenever he’s with Elena everything just seems more real. I know Stefan and Elena are “soul mates” but I believe everything could change and about the Dumb Supper Ritual that Bonnie convinced Elena to do obviously gave readers a sign when Damon showed up and Elena’s hand was still on the chair- (and Bonnie said to keep her hand on the chair for the ritual to truly work) -that Bonnie said your future husband would appear, and what do you know? DAMON shows up!
I love Damon to Death and if I were Elena I would pick him, and I wouldn’t even think twice about it. Stefan is a very nice guy and I just feel like him and Elena are kinda to easy to be with and now with Damon and Elena being together in this scene, and if Elena picks Stefan then she WILL feel bad for not choosing Damon and then ( i think) that she will go back to Damon…
So I am Team Damon and all of the people who have commented on this…VAMPIRE DIARIES FANS are the BEST, Better than Twilight. And the Books are even more better than Twilight to me because this series shows love in many ways and what people and vampires especially go through and the Drama but like it’s apart of life that we need to except and sometimes you gotta dig deeper if you want Real, True, Passionate, Unforgettable, and Devotion in life and love.

Ok, this is a long shot… not… Elena’s secret can’t be that she is a virgin. Stephan is a gentleman and would not care wether she was or not. Damon would already know that she was a virgin because he has already tasted her blood. hint hint way back when Stephan told Damon that there was no way Elena could be alive when he saw her die and she did not take enough blood from him. Stephan knows Elena has traded blood with Damon and Damon knows that Stephan and Damon have traded blood. I think what Damon is tasting in Elena’s tears is that she is an immortal, a like super being. is something that can be only idenified by her tears and not her blood. If it could had been idenified by her blood Stephan would already know. I don’t think that her secrete is she loves Damon either, Cuz Stephan already knows that she cares for him. If not she wouldn’t have told them to take care of each other when she killed Kathrine. That is just what i think though.
I can’t wait for Shadow Souls and Midnight to come out, oh and i also know that Neither Damon nor Stephan die in this Shadow Souls. If they did how is Elena going to choose one??? Unless choosing one means moving on… but that is a whole other subject
Omg I can’t wait for this! I really hope Damon ends up with Elena. With all the buildup throughout the books, it’s so there!!!!! This scene is awesome. No clue what the secret is but I can’t wait to find out.

In my opinion Damon and Elena should be together in the end; like the reasons people have already stated, their love wasn’t rushed and didn’t seem predictable and cheesy like Stefan and Elena.
I will admit at first I did like Stefan and Elena, but as the books progressed their love got really boring because they were doing the same thing all the time. If Damon hadn’t been there the story would have just been rubbish.
I know why people want Damon and Bonnie together because I have read the books, and at first in Nightfall I was starting to think that maybe Damon was starting to have deep feelings for her; but then when I read the snowglobe scene with Damon and Elena I knew that he really did love her. I also felt that because Elena saw into his past something that Bonnie hasn’t, makes Elena know Damon a whole lot better. Also, she has been the only person who has defended Damon and Bonnie hasn’t even done that.
I think that if Damon and Elena don’t get together at the end of Midnight then it is a waste of the series returning; what is the point of bringing back the books if Elena ends up with Stefan just like in all the books before that?! Also, it would be way too predictable, cheesy and boring because even everyone that wants Elena with Damon together think this is going to happen.
But anyway, Damon and Elena!!

Elena is the only one that can do that and Elena needs Damon to help understand that part of her she just discovered she had, that part that needs to be opened, the fire within. Stefan has been heartbroken for years but Elena is his savior, his universe. They want, no the need one another. They deserve happiness with one another and they might even settle down. I think she’d be happy either way but in different ways. I just hope she choose’s right because if not she’ll end up like Katherine or her fate will be terrible…death even….again!
I agree with Taznim. You just FEEL the Damon/Elena connection, depth AND chemistry through every scene they have. I love that is has taken the long route to build up to what they are now (and hopefully for how they end! ) because it will mean that much more when she finally chooses him once and for all. Damon neeeeeeeeeeeeeeds Elena. She brings out the best in him. (Okay, I’m kinda referring to the show with that too lol) Anyway, I’m really excited to read this book. Is it March yet?

OHMIGOD!! I just read the first 8 or 9 chapters of Shadow Souls. This book by far is my most favourite book I have ever read. And I agree with Christine about LJ Smith writing these great books and have it end with Elena and Stefan together. But like obviously it won’t end like that, there will be a twist or even a possibility Elena and Damon ending up together. I hope so much they will. I will be so pissed off if they didn’t, but anyways LJ could have had the answer all this time about who Elena ends up with and if you have read the books, which I know everybody on this page has then you have read the hints in the books about Elena and Damon, especially in the first book.
K, I think you might be on to something! My thinking is sometimes with very little or almost no evidence, so if you don’t agree, that is my reason. N E way, the thing about Bonnie dying young, I think she will be about to die and Damon will save her and reveal his true feelings for her. (like I said before, I most of the time assume things with little or just a ghost of evidence, so if you don’t get it, I understand. BTW, I am also assuming this by how Damon keeps having to save Bonnie repeatedly.) (this might not even happen, I am one of those people who jump to huge conclusions by the littlest things.) And remember L.J. Smith saying that the ending would shock us? (I think that she said that) Well that might be the shock! I really hope so! Oh and, Jessie, I agree with you, Bonnie seems to be too afraid to have a real realationship with Damon, but I think that that might be part of the surprise ending. I am jumping to conclusions, but I am hoping greatly that I am right, probably not going to be though, I rarely am right, but I’m hoping!
I think (well wish) that Damon should be with Elena. To me, Damon’s care for Bonnie represents the “humanity” in him, since saving her shows his selflessness as he cares for her without being in love with her (if that makes sense?) Damon referring to BOnnie as his “little bird” to me simply suggests a protective nature towards someone so fragile and vunerable rather than anything romantic. Moreover as some other people have already said, I feel that Bonnie in the books is not mature enough for Damon and is far too innocent in her lines of thought. She is not strong enough to break Damons bravado and change him, like Elena can.
As for Damon and Elena, I feel like they are each other’s match, since Elena feels she can master all the guys except Damon and vice versa, which creates a fascination between them for the other person, this drawing them closer. Stefan is too easy for Elena and does not challenge her in any way, which someone of her strong assertive personality would want. I feel that Stefan should be with someone of a much “softer” personality, if you know what I mean.
Btw, does anyone else think it should be Damon/Elena and Stefan/Bonnie at least in the tv show if not the books, since I thought they had amazing chemistry in episode 11

First of all, before I get into the meat of the matter let me just express a warm greeting to all of you!! Sooooooo…hello!!!

Seriously, who can deny the awesomeness that is…Damon? That bad boy charm is just irresistable on him. Besides, it’s high time this Salvatore got some real lovin in his life!!
Stefan is like the Twilight saga all over again (the typical Edward-type…even though VD came out first >_>). Stefan to me is depressing, annoying, waaaaaayyyyyyyyyy too sappy and ungrateful (I mean seriously, what has he done for Damon instead of whine at him and berate his so called “evil” brother who saves him not only once but twice and is about to save him once more by rescuing him from the Shi no shi). The sad part is that Stefan is so pathetic that he’ll probably fall to pieces if Damon and Elena hooked up. It’s took him like over 2 centuries to get over Katherine, so what do we expect will happen if DE happens? o_O
The SE relationship is sooooooo…blah!! Ugh…They are so unrealtistic and overly romantic that it gets kind of annoying after a while…I mean reading the first 60 or so pages of Nightfall was like torture with those 2 pining over each other o_O dear lord!!! And the “lovely little love” nickname? How whipped (and sappy) can you get o_O I almost pity him sometimes…lol. Besides, them ending up together would be way too easy. He needs to learn how to get an actual life and live a little. Him being referred to as a saint makes him sound overly perfect too. He also thinks that he can’t live without her because their love is soooooooo deep and that Damon is the evil incarnate…Sigh…Lastly, Stefan doesn’t NEED Elena, he NEEDS to get a life…LMAO =P
As for Damon…HE RULES…HANDS DOWN!!! He embraces his vampire side to the fullest so I think he’s gonna be pretty torn up when he becomes mortal. He and Elena has this kind of undeniable chemistry and their moments together are always exciting. She also admits that she can’t control him like other guys cough Stefan cough, which gives her quite a bit of a challenge and makes their relationship all the more complicated…AND INTERESTING!! It’s also implied that she is the only one who understands him
They (as in DE) really need each other actually, for her to learn that not everything in life is easy (and not everyone is what they see) and for him to learn that it’s ok to love and to let people inside your heart Them together is like 1000 times more interesting than any SE scene any day. Those scenes literally light up the page.
Bonnie, IMO is just so whiny…I mean I rate her powers and all, being a witch is pretty awesome, but she’s just so immature for Damon. He basically sees her as a pet, I mean seriously, “my little bird”? -_- Who calls someone they like that much an animal? Anyhoo, she and Matt obviously have a mutual thing going on *wink wink* so I’m all up for that. However, they did foreshadow that Bonnie would die young so I’m not sure how that’s gonna work out >_>
Caroline needs to get lost =_= …permanently…All her evil/possessed/crazy persona is really getting to me now…o_O Then the baby mama drama…
For the show, the producer admitted that he’s an avid SE fan, so I would not expect a DE ending @ all (which totally sucks IMO, because Ian and Nina hooking up on TV would,,,be…HAWT!!!). According to him, SE are soulmates…sigh.
As for the Books, there’s been alot of DE foreshadowing, plus LJS having a softspot for Damon. Though it is beyond me why people keep referring to the supper where Elena perform the ritual to find her future hubby as “dumb”. Even though I’d love to use that as proof, I wonder if it actually counts becuase I have this nagging feeling that Damon was probably hanging outside just waiting to make an entrance o_O But then again…You have to be considering as vampire in order to let them inside your home…sooooooooo…those 2 points cancel out lol. What I also find kind of interesting is how Elena was about to kiss Damon the first time they met without even knowing who he was…THAT is what we call love (or passion) at first sight Then when she finally did kiss him…She completely forgot about Stefan (for a very good while).
The reason she doesn’t exactly pursue Damon head on is because she feels guilty of betraying Stefan, not that I blame her on anything, but if you realize that you may actually love someone else would you ignore it and stay in a relationship that you may eventually grow out of and end up asking yourself “what if?” for the rest of your life? As for Stefab being her launchpad (her first), Damon is the fire that keeps her going (her next and last).
Now for my crack @ the secret…What’s the point of calling Elena “easy and a slut” if she was already a virgin? o_O That makes no sense to me…Then again, I also have no idea what you can sense from tears. IMO, I think he can taste her emotions. Since he says “I know what you are…”, he might realize that she’s just like him…that would be epic!! XD We do know that she is going to fall in love with him to the same extent that she loves Stefan…Maybe even more…Hmmm…I am really really really hoping for a Delena ending regardless!!!

Stefan to me is depressing, annoying, waaaaaayyyyyyyyyy too sappy and ungrateful (I mean seriously, what has he done for Damon instead of whine at him and berate his so called \”evil\” brother who saves him not only once but twice and is about to save him once more by rescuing him from the Shi no shi). The sad part is that Stefan is so pathetic that he\’ll probably fall to pieces if Damon and Elena hooked up. It\’s took him like over 2 centuries to get over Katherine, so what do we expect will happen if DE happens? o_O
The SE relationship is sooooooo…blah!! Ugh…They are so unrealtistic and overly romantic that it gets kind of annoying after a while…I mean reading the first 60 or so pages of Nightfall was like torture with those 2 pining over each other o_O dear lord!!! And the \”lovely little love\” nickname? How whipped (and sappy) can you get o_O I almost pity him sometimes…lol. Besides, them ending up together would be way too easy. He needs to learn how to get an actual life and live a little. Him being referred to as a saint makes him sound overly perfect too. He also thinks that he can\’t live without her because their love is soooooooo deep and that Damon is the evil incarnate…Sigh…Lastly, Stefan doesn\’t NEED Elena, he NEEDS to get a life…LMAO =P
As for Damon…HE RULES…HANDS DOWN!!! He embraces his vampire side to the fullest so I think he\’s gonna be pretty torn up when he becomes mortal. He and Elena has this kind of undeniable chemistry and their moments together are always exciting. She also admits that she can\’t control him like other guys cough Stefan cough, which gives her quite a bit of a challenge and makes their relationship all the more complicated…AND INTERESTING!! It\’s also implied that she is the only one who understands him
They (as in DE) really need each other actually, for her to learn that not everything in life is easy (and not everyone is what they see) and for him to learn that it\’s ok to love and to let people inside your heart Them together is like 1000 times more interesting than any SE scene any day. Those scenes literally light up the page.
Bonnie, IMO is just so whiny…I mean I rate her powers and all, being a witch is pretty awesome, but she\’s just so immature for Damon. He basically sees her as a pet, I mean seriously, \”my little bird\”? -_- Who calls someone they like that much an animal? Anyhoo, she and Matt obviously have a mutual thing going on *wink wink* so I\’m all up for that. For the show, the producer admitted that he\’s an avid SE fan, so I would not expect a DE ending @ all (which totally sucks IMO, because Ian and Nina hooking up on TV would,,,be…HAWT!!!). According to him, SE are soulmates…sigh.
As for the Books, there\’s been alot of DE foreshadowing, plus LJS having a softspot for Damon. Though it is beyond me why people keep referring to the supper where Elena perform the ritual to find her future hubby as \”dumb\”. Even though I\’d love to use that as proof, I wonder if it actually counts becuase I have this nagging feeling that Damon was probably hanging outside just waiting to make an entrance o_O But then again…You have to be considering as vampire in order to let them inside your home…sooooooooo…those 2 points cancel out lol. What I also find kind of interesting is how Elena was about to kiss Damon the first time they met without even knowing who he was…THAT is what we call love (or passion) at first sight Then when she finally did kiss him…She completely forgot about Stefan (for a very good while).
The reason she doesn\’t exactly pursue Damon head on is because she feels guilty of betraying Stefan, not that I blame her on anything, but if you realize that you may actually love someone else would you ignore it and stay in a relationship that you may eventually grow out of and end up asking yourself \”what if?\” for the rest of your life? As for Stefab being her launchpad (her first), Damon is the fire that keeps her going (her next and last).

I already feel let down that we didnt get our steamy scene with Damon and Elena..I mean what the spoiler said happens after… Is LJ Kidding??!!! damon did say that vampires hav sences that they dont even know about until they need them so that is probably why he figured out Elena’s secret by tasting her tears i cann”t believe the date was pushed back now i hav to wait even longer!
I just remembered something! (excited moment) Okay, somebody said that in the first book, Damon wasn’t as nice or in love with Elena; he black mailed her and threatened her and all that. Damon NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER did that to Bonnie. Also, Elena has been let down a lot by Damon; A LOT! Damon has never let down Bonnie before. There was that brief moment when she was ‘calling’ him with her psychic ability and he ignored her for the most part, but that was only because he was possesed. If he weren’t possesed, I bet that he would jump to the rescue instantly. In this sense, I think that Bonnie and Damon would be better together. BTW, Bonnie is scared of A LOT of things (I will admitt that) but she is not scared of Damon (for the most part). In Dark Reunioun, Damon catches Bonnie from falling, and she needs a way to escape. She quickly thinks of ways to escape, and she kisses him, then Mutt ruins it and, well you get the point. Then in Nightfall, Bonnie calls him to save them from the trees; Bonnie calls him again to save them from Caroline; Bonnie kisses him after he saves them from Caroline. That is evidence enough for me to say that she is not entirely afraid of Damon, I mean come on! If there was a vampire influencing you or about ready to suck your blood, wouldn’t you at least be a tiny bit scared, so I can’t blame her for her fears sometimes. Anyway, this is another reason Bonnie and Damon are awesome together.

Have you guys read “Bonnie and Damon After Hours”? Well in it, Bonnie faints when she knows that Damon is a vamp. Well, then, Bonnie askes if he bit her, and he says that he would NEVER bite or draw blood from a sleeping maiden. What’s my point exactly? Well, in, I believe the 2nd book, when Elena is sleeping, he draws blood from her… So, I think he said that he would never draw blood from a sleeping maiden because he liked her in a way that he didn’t with Elena. Also, remember in NIghtfall when he was after her the whole time and he cared for her and stuff? Well, in the original books, he threatend her and forced her and all that, and that was before she got the irresistable aura. Bonnie never had an irresistable aura, but he cared for her too. Though Damon and Elena have a lot more scenes then Damon and Bonnie, Damon and Elena had most of their scenes after she got that aura, and he was jealous of Stefan in the first books so that’s why he was chasing after her in the first books. Damon liked Bonnie without jealousy, plus, he knew her way before he knew Elena. JMO. BTW, 13 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! B-)

@Kayla, I totally agree that it would be super akward if Damon is like “Oh I love Elena so much she’s gonna be my princess of darkness” then 2 seconds later, “Oh, I don’t care about Elena, I really want Bonnie.” But say something were to, maybe happen to one of the characters (Mutt). Say he was to, oh IDK, die (which IMO would be totally awesome, ’cause I hate him!). Bonnie would be really sad, because there has been A LOT of evidence (though I hate to admitt it) toward a B/M realationship, so if he were to die, she would be so sad and I dont think that Damon could resist her vulnerableness. In Nightfall, Damon felt really bad for her when he was trying to save her, so he probably couldn’t resist trying to comfort her. So he could comfort her and that is how the realationship could work, ’cause she wouldn’t have anybody else, and I know she has feelings for Damon, but they are just not as strong as her feelings for Mutt. That is how a Bonnie/Damon realationship could work. I know if this were to happen, it would not happen in Shadow Souls because the description for Midnight on LJs website says that he stands up to Caroline. It would be a little hard to stand up to someone when you’re dead. lol! I really want this (or something like it) to happen because 1- I hate Mutt. 2- I hate Mutt with Bonnie. 3- If he dies, it evens out the couples (B/D; S/E; M/A). 4- THIS IS A GREAT WAY TO PUT BONNIE AND DAMON TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!! Yes he has. He’s shown his loyalty to everyone. He is the one who always has to clean up the mess, pretty much. He had to help Stefan with the whole Klaus situation; he had to save Bonnie from the car when the trees attacked them (BTW she called him to save ALL of them from the trees, and he swooped down and saved ONLY HER. That’s gotta count for something, I mean, COME ON! Then he refused to take her to a modern hospital because he wanted to care for her BY HIMSELF, and he wouldn’t let Mrs. Flowers take care of her either, for the same reason.); he had to pull off all the malach on Elena, and many other things.
I really want B/D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If Bonnie would mature she’d be on his level and it would make it easier for them to be together. Mutt should die so that they can be together. He doesn’t even matter to the storyline anyway. HE DOES NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, why does he matter? That’s what I don’t get! I hate him! Why should he be in the story if he doesn’t count for anything?! That is why I strongly think he should be killed off. He doesn’t do anything but stand there and look “pretty”. Everyone else plays a big role in the books: Damon is the really strong vampire brother who is there to help them (sometimes) and make the story so much more interesting. Stefan is the vampire brother who is there to love Elena and protect the town. Bonnie is there to help the town with her psychic powers and be Elena’s friend. Merideth is there for encouragement to her friends helping the town, and to be Elena’s friend. Elena is there to help the town and love Stefan and protect her friends. Matt…? Who knows what he’s there to do? I certainly don’t, that is why he should get killed off. I remember in a post severel months (or a little more than a year) ago, someone said that LJ said that at the end of the series someone WAS GOING TO DIE. Since Matt does nothing, and everyone else has a HUGE part, I nominate him, even if I didn’t have a good reason (which I still sort of don’t) I still nominate him.

Well, it is a good possability that Damon can end up with Bonnie. After all, a lot of unexpected things happened throughout the books: 1) we found out Katherin was the one wreaking havoc; 2) Elena just dropped off the face of the planet so unexpectedly it’s like, “What?!?!?!?!” 3) Elena went to Damon in her first awakening as a vamp; 4) Tyler turned into a werewolf; 5) Klaus came when everyone thought he was dead. 6) Elena just dropped BACK on the face of the planet just as unexpectedly as when she dropped OFF the face of the planet; 7) Elena grew WINGS; Caroline got pregnet with PUPPIES.
Suddenly, a Bonnie and Damon realationship seems a lot more believable. I mean none of us could’ve seen those things stated above happen (unless you’re Bonnie McCullough). So it’s a lot more believable that those things or someone suddenly turning into a chicken or something. Don’t you agree?

After reading through the comments, some things have come to my attention…
What would be the point of LJS releasing this trilogy starring Damon if she just wanted Elena to end up wit Stefan? That would be totally pointless if you think about it. The revival of a series just to leave it with the same lame ending is a waste of time and energy. However, it was said that these books are supposed to be a standalone trilogy, yet they seem more like a continuation of the original story…Oh well…
As for the Bamon fans, even if they do somehow end up together, it would be kind of a mismatched hookup. I mean Bonnie’s just like a puppy (or kitten) and Damon is like a wolf or tiger, so experienced and overbearing that I just can’t seen her handling him effectively. Besides, the last time I checked…She was afraid of him…and the fact that she (and Stefan…who is currently on my “People I want to bitchslap” list) shunned him after the bathtub scene puts her in my bad books -_-
And about Bonnie being a challenge…Uh no…I don’t think so…She basically thinks Matt, Stefan and Damon are all hot. So all Damon would have to do to get to her, is just to dazzle her off her feet by being super nice (and hot) as far as I’m concerned. Challenge done…Elena however, that’s another story. She’s been resisting him from book 1 (which is a damn long time people). Plus, let’s not forget that he kissed Bonnie at the party, if she was so ‘challenging’ then how’d he be able to get so far with her. Hell, she was swept off her feet by his prescence before she knew who he really was.
I have said before that Elena is the only one who actually tries to make any effort in understanding him, so yes, she truly cares for him. Him just ending up with Bonnie is like getting second best. I could care less if it was an alternative for SE, he’s still going to be heartbroken over losing Elena anyways, so can Bonnie really handle helping Damon get over his grief because her maturity level tells me otherwise -_- It’s about damn time that Damon finds true happiness and I see that as him and Elena actually hooking up.
Also, the fact that Damon is continuously losing his memories is starting to bug me. I mean seriously, it’s like after any amount of progress he makes with Elena, he forgets all about it and they’re back to square 1 once again. Isn’t that totally frustrating? o_O Jeez…It’s makes everything so complicated. I think it’s kind of obvious that all Delena moments are steamy so…the show would just amplify that by like…a thousand!!!!

After reading through the comments, some things have come to my attention…
What would be the point of LJS releasing this trilogy starring Damon if she just wanted Elena to end up wit Stefan? That would be totally pointless if you think about it. The revival of a series just to leave it with the same lame ending is a waste of time and energy. However, it was said that these books are supposed to be a standalone trilogy, yet they seem more like a continuation of the original story…Oh well…
As for the Bamon fans, even if they do somehow end up together, it would be kind of a mismatched hookup. I mean Bonnie\’s just like a puppy (or kitten) and Damon is like a wolf or tiger, so experienced and overbearing that I just can\’t seen her handling him effectively. Besides, the last time I checked…She was afraid of him…and the fact that she (and Stefan…who is currently on my \”People I want to bitchslap\” list) shunned him after the bathtub scene puts her in my bad books -_-
And about Bonnie being a challenge…Uh no…I don\’t think so…She basically thinks Matt, Stefan and Damon are all hot. So all Damon would have to do to get to her, is just to dazzle her off her feet by being super nice (and hot) as far as I\’m concerned. Challenge done…Elena however, that\’s another story. She\’s been resisting him from book 1 (which is a damn long time people). Plus, let\’s not forget that he kissed Bonnie at the party, if she was so \’challenging\’ then how\’d he be able to get so far with her. Hell, she was swept off her feet by his prescence before she knew who he really was.
I have said before that Elena is the only one who actually tries to make any effort in understanding him, so yes, she truly cares for him. Him just ending up with Bonnie is like getting second best. I could care less if it was an alternative for SE, he\’s still going to be heartbroken over losing Elena anyways, so can Bonnie really handle helping Damon get over his grief because her maturity level tells me otherwise -_- It\’s about damn time that Damon finds true happiness and I see that as him and Elena actually hooking up.
Also, the fact that Damon is continuously losing his memories is starting to bug me. I mean seriously, it\’s like after any amount of progress he makes with Elena, he forgets all about it and they\’re back to square 1 once again. Alot of what I’m reading has me seriously worried that Damon may be the one killed off in the last book. I read that L.J.S said something about theres nothing like the bad boy doing the right thing in the end. First off: That would NOT be a happy ending for anyone who is a Damon and or Damon/Elena fan as I am. Secondly, That would piss me off beyond belief to write 3 books based around D/E just to kill him off. I don’t give a crap if it’s to redeem him or not, hell in my opinion Damon hasn’t done anything terrible enough to have to die to be redeemed. Him turning human will probably be bad enough for him unless it lands him Elena.
It’s a hard place to be in because I actually like Stefan and have enjoyed his and Elena’s relationship however, I have been an avid Damon fan from the beginning and would truly like to see him and Elena wind up together. I don’t understand why L.J.S would put all those comments in even from the first books amon saying ‘he and Elena BELONG together” ‘She was MEANT to be his”Not to mention all his comments about how “he would have her in the end” and as many have mentioned the ‘dumbsupper’ that clearly suggested Damon would be the one Elena married. Why do all that foreshadowing for nothing. Because Elena also makes her share of comments about ‘how she is DRAWN to Damon’ “how something was building between them that scared her with it’s power” There ‘wildfire attraction’ not to mention how she seems to forget Stefan whenever she is with Damon. Sorry to ramble I just got really pissed off reading that and worrying Damon would get killed off.

4.Why was Stefan kinda mean 2 times when Elena came to him,then snapped out of it like he didn’t realize it?
A. I’m guessing that the guards would always–maybe shapeshift?–appear like her to torture and poke their ideas of fun at Stefan because they knew it would hurt him most.
5.Damon was in Fells Church before Stefan but watched Elena from the shadows why?
A. He probably wanted to make sure she wasn’t Katherine. Observing…like Stefan. Trying to find out everything about her.
9.Why did the little girl keep referring to Elena as Damon’s MATE?
A. Because of the way Elena and Damon acted around each other. I really hope it’s foreshadowing though.
12.Why did Bonnie keep getting compared to a bird? Considering that’s how Damon also referred to her in the last book.
A. I do believe there is symbolism is being called a “bird,” but I don’t know what it is. Can anyone look up the symbolism of bird? I’m sure it plays some effect.

Hey Love Damon, I completely agree with you. I have also read “Dark Visions.” I loved it!! I have thought before that the triangle in Vampire Diaries is much like the one in Dark Visions. I hope that it does end the same way with Elena choosing the “bad boy.” Also there is something else in Shadow Souls that reminded me of the Nightworld series. There is the scene where Elena and Damon’s hands touch. Then there is this huge jolt of electricity and it takes a little while before they can separate. In the Nightworld stories whenever two people have electricity like that, they are Soulmates. They are bound to be together FOREVER. They are bound to each other even if they don’t like each other to begin. This is VERY CLEARLY NOT the case here. Damon and Elena are falling in love. However, if that scene is any indication then I certainly hope that L.J. will put them together. Cross your fingers
Well I have to say that I hope that the end of the series is good. I hope that there is a happy ending for everyone. Especially Damon. I just don’t know how she would pull that off. Also as much I adore Vampire Diaries it needs to be over with by the end of the next book. I think it will be totally disastrous if she writes another trilogy with Stefan at the center. I would be bored to tears I think that another three book is perhaps pushing. However, the only good thing is that she wouldn’t kill Damon off in Midnight if there are indeed going to be three more books. If she killed Damon at the end of Midnight there would be pretty much no point in continuing anyhow as far as I’m concerned lol
So I just started reading SS about 2 days ago and since I’ve been really busy, I’m only halfway through with it but here are my comments so far:
Um yeah…No need to gloat to all the Bamon fans but there is absolutely zero action going on between them in this book for you people. Sorry It’s ALL DELENA PEOPLES!!! This Bamon relationship may just end up being a friendship. I don’t see why he’d risk his love for Elena just to get Bonnie.
I was amused when Lakshimi referred to Damon as Elena’s mate, because she sure as hell wasn’t acting as his slave…nor was she really trying that hard to deny the accusation >_> LMAO
About Elena cheating on Stefan with Damon…I realize a lot of people are on the fence about that but ask yourselves this. How else would she “fall in love with Damon to the same extent as with Stefan” if she did not somehow cheat on him. -_- Really…This is not Twilight where the girl falls head over heels in love with some guy she doesn’t even know personally or started to date. If Damon and Elena did not share any moments I highly doubt that she would fall for him. So the kisses, caresses, flirting etc. are kinda necessary if you ask me. Her problem is that she’s indecisive about who she really loves and the only way she would be able to explore her feelings for Damon would be when Stefan is away.
Yes, that is wrong…But are there any other options? I highly doubt that…Anyways another point I would like to add is this. I remember someone stating that Stefan has her body or something. I disagree. Stefan has, until now, always had her mind. She was always physically acttracted to Damon, so whenever he touched her or whatever, she would feel the electricity jolt through her veins. Damon was never able to get to her mentally because she basically blocked him out of her thoughts. But now, they were able to connect both mentally and physically just by a kiss, allowing them to freely explore each others minds…Which she did with Stefan at some point I assume.
Elena is obviously in denial about her feelings for Damon, since she likes to believe that he’s compelling her (lol), but she’s going to realize probably in the next book that yes…She is in love with him.
As for Meredith’s secret…She may either not be human…or something else entirely. I find it weird that they know nothing about her background…Then there was the scene where her eyes appeared gray when they were always supposed to be brown…I really wonder about that.
As soon as LJS described Sage in the books, I think I swooned…He sounds awesome…But according to what Damon says, “they don’t know who he really is”, I’m guessing Sage is not just a powerful vampire…
Damon turning human is a serious twist…I will be seriously pissed if she harms him because as a human…He is very much vulnerable. Plus, I actually can picture him sacrificing himself for Elena’s sake…But I’m hoping that he gets turned back into a vampire…
My guess at who secretly shared a kiss, we kinda already got a hint that maybe Matt and Bonnie did kiss in Nightfall, so I guess it’s either Stefan and Meredith or maybe even Matt and Caroline…Who knows?
Btw, didn’t Bonnie already have a premonition that she would die young so why is everybody making random guesses about who will die? However, it is typical of LJS to disregard details because she supposedly ended the books with The Return leaving those 2 foreshadowings hanging in the air (the other one being Damon appearing at the supper).
There is one thing that gets me thinking though…That scene where Damon pressed the starball to Elena’s head she had a dream about Allegra and John. Who are those people exactly because I think they play some significance. According to Damon, the starball lets you relive memories and then forget them afterwards. But Elena seems to not have recognized them. I woonder if they could be her parents from the past, were their names ever given after all? I think she really does have suppressed memories and when she remembers them…The plot is going to get a whole lot thicker!!!! o_O

Its a pre equal. Which means its Stefans life BEFORE he came to Mystiq Falls. I think this means Damon and Elena will be together in the end and Stefan will die. I think shes letting the news of this book out early to kinda calm the storm before it happens. So Stefan fans will have something to look forward too.
I agree that she shouldn’t write another trilogy, especially not about Stefan… Come on… he must be one of the most boring characters ever… Anyway Shadow Souls was great, I loved all the Damon+Elena scenes but i have to point out that Elena was infuriating throughout the whole book. @Damon Forever, I was the one who suggested maybe Damon and Elena shared some sort of past. Most of that was based on some of the dialogue and passages within the book. I’m stumped if it’s that Elena was reincarnated or if it was during her life. That star ball memory you brought up Elena was a child in it if I remember completely. I’ve always wondered about the comment in Nightfall when Elena goes to see Stefan in jail (when she still has the magic key) she’s trying to convince him of it really being her and she says “I once told you I felt like a murderer because I pointed at something out the window right before my parents car crashed” BUT, I couldn’t remember what it was I saw” Could this be a supressed memory? Maybe Shinichi was already in the picture back then?, Maybe she saw Damon back then? I just know that couldn’t just be a ‘throw away line’ had to be a reason to bring it up. Maybe Damon saved Elena from that crash? Who knows?
I really truly don’t think Damon’s secret is going to be anything too horrible. I can’t believe L.J would build him up sooooo much just to tear him down, that would totally piss me off.

Just read some horrible news. I went to Amazon.com and searched Vampire Diaries Midnight. The results page came up and it said March 3, 2011!!!!!! I am so sad!!! I really hope that the release date gets moved up. The British version is the one that always appears when I type the name of the book into Amazon. I don’t know what I am gonna do if I have to wait almost another full year.

Yes I totally agree with you, AGAIN…haha…..In the books I HATE Bonnie ( because she kissed Damon and she thinks he loves her…AAAAA:….>:(….) but in the series I like her, shes very pretty!! At the first episodes of TVD I hate Jeremy too because he caused only problems ( with Vicky, the drugs,…) but at the last episodes I started to like him because he and Anna were a good couple…. I really hope Anna will come back but I doubt……

Although I constantly wish myself it is Damon she will choose I am sure…Damon is now a human and maybe he will begin to live a new life without Elena……..I can´ t imagine Elena with Stefan and Damon with another woman or …..aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa……I really wish myself her choice is Damon but the more I think over it the more it becomes clear to me that she will choose Stefan….

I have been thinking about Meredith since the first book…she was kinda strange to me….I don´t know…. it is probable only my fantasy which goes through to me…hahahaha….but she is really strange…..can you remember when (I don´t know n which book it was) Caroline said that Meredith had a secret? Meredith told Elena & Co. the story about her grandfather….but maybe she didn´t tell them the whole story? Maybe there is more? I think we have to wait until MIDNIGHT release!!!!
What makes me freaking out is: Why over God sake is Damon a human….I mean…I can´t imagine him as a human….and I don´t know what sense it makes to turn him in Shadow Souls into a human and to turn him in Midnight into a Vampire again? WHY? But maybe Stefan will go to search for the kidsune (the good one) to give him again the present which turns him into a human….and than Elena and Damon will finally fall in Love and say the three word for havens sake : I LOVE YOU!!!!

Do you really think he will die? I don´t know what to think about the situation….its very hard to say whats gonna happen….Actually I am thinking about your solution….you make me think…….its possible that Damon will die as a human (for Elena) and turn into a vampire again, BUT of which vampire he will drink the blood? Maybe Sage? Maybe, maybe maybe……..we don´t know yet and it drives me crazy…..this solutions…there are so many that I even began to dream about it….hahahahaha
But nastia, was it really difficult for you to read the book in english? Because you make a very good impression on me, so I thought no I think that you can speak, write and read English very well

I must honestly say that at the beginning I had my doubts (I was convinced of the Tv Show)…..I always thought that Stefan and Elena will end up together and Damon is just a waste of time for her…..but in the books it is different!!!! So I didn´ exactly know what will happen, I was very confused!!!!! You have probably read my comments……so you see…….I was really confused and freaking out….hahahahahahah

Did anyone else cry when poor Damon was told by both girls that he loved that they loved Stephen, never him? I was bawling! Because I mean come on even if you hate him in the books and the TV show, the guy didn\’t deserve that. Especially since all he wants is someone to really love him! Luckily, in the books Elena has been giving him the attention he wants from her.

It’s been a while since i’ve been here but I wondered if there were still people commenting here so I decided to check . I’m not from the US so I download the episodes from the new season, but i have to wait untill friday because of the time differences.. I can’t wait for the next episode, there’s so much happening on the show. And I almost had to cry too, so mean, they both used the exact same words! And then in episode 3 Elena dumps him all over again! I mean, Jeremy has forgiven him already so why not Elena?
About the books, The Stefan diaries isn’t written by LJSMith but she’s advising on those, she is writing a next trilogy, the first book is supposed to come out in summer 2011 (that’s pretty fast after midnight in march isn’t it?)
