Follow the story of Treydon Austin (aka Smokey) as he chases down the cleverest, fastest, most uncatchable, most unmatchable members of The Bandit’s crime Syndicate as the government’s secret weapon against guys who are just too fast to catch. Check back every monday for the latest chapter to this fast paced action novel.
We got to the high school, she got out of the car and said, “Just so you know… I can’t dance.” Yes! I didn’t have to worry so much. I didn’t like dances mainly because I couldn’t dance. I opened the door and said “me neither!” she laughed. I loved her laugh, it’s like it triggered the happiness emotion in my brain and I could feel it being released. She finished laughing and said “Wanna go do something fun instead of going to a dance?” Oh man, she was the best girl ever. I smiled big and said “Heck yeah.”
We got in, and I knew just the spot. I took her down State Street and we went toward the State Capital Building. My dad showed me this little cruise; you get to see all the lights of the city at night. We drove through downtown and saw the massive granite temple, and we reached the capital building. I drove up the side street that led all the way up to the top of the hill behind the capital. At the very tiptop, I parked it. What a view it was from up there. You could see the entire city; all the lights that made the stars look dim. You could see the hotels and the temple and the capital building, and all the landmarks of Salt Lake City. There was one strip of lights that stood out, State Street. It was so illuminated that it was just this solid line of light that went out of downtown and gradually got dimmer as it went. It was in that spot where me, Treydon Austin, had his first real kiss with Dixie Dawn, the most beautiful girl I had ever met.
As we connected, everything paused, spun, the zoomed passed by so quickly like a blur. Then it was over. There-gone. So quick. Just like that. Moment over. It’s like I have this curse on my head. Everything goes by so fast… for me.
I started the old Z28 again, “Now what?” I said. She looked at me and said with her downy voice, “Let’s go see the drag races.”
“Drag races? Rocky Mountain Raceway is closed.”
