Back in the hospital room police officer Davidson and Patel spoke to Makayla. “Can you tell us what happened?” Patel questioned.
“I don’t remember.” Makayla replied.
“We have tried to locate your husband…”
“My husband?” Makayla questioned, feeling lost.
“You don’t remember?” Davidson asked.
“Your husband’s name is Neil.” Patel added.
“Everything is so fuzzy.” Makayla replied. “Can you just tell me what happened?”
“We are just as confused as you are.” Patel replied. “Your father called us; he said that you called asking for help before passing out.”
“Do you remember anything? Does the name Neil Boswell jog anything in your memory?” Davidson requested.
As if Neil’s full name brought back a heart wrenching memory, she fell unconscious again. Davidson rushed out to find the doctor, while Patel yelled her name repeatedly.
It was after midnight when Neil finally made it home. He needed a drink. He felt dirty and disgusted with himself. He couldn’t face Makayla. He couldn’t even look at her. The guilt was too intense. Stepping out of his car he threw up his last meal, all over their well-manicured lawn. Wiping his mouth he looked up at his house. Although the lights were off, he knew Makayla would still be up waiting for him.
He entered into the house and threw his keys on the kitchen table. He walked into the dark living room heading towards his bedroom. Then he heard Makayla speak.
“Did you have fun?” she inquired.
Neil froze; he turned to face Makayla who was sitting on the couch staring directly at him. “Fun?” he questioned. “What do you mean?”
“Susan called…wanted to make sure you got home safe.”
“Susan…ah you don’t think…”
“Don’t play stupid with me, She seemed very concerned…too concerned.”
“Makayla, it’s late, can we talk about this in the morning?” Neil pleaded.
Makayla stood up and walked over to Neil, who stood a nervous five foot eight inches. “I know exactly what you did,” she growled before walking off to the master bedroom locking the door behind her.
Neil fell to his knees crying. He instantly began to pray and ask God for forgiveness. He begged for his fresh sins to be forgiven and the happiness that was once in his marriage to return. Satan instantly appeared before him.
“You are by far the most stupidest human I have ever come across.” He stated looking down at Neil. “The ink on your contract isn’t even dry and here you are begging God to take you back.” Satan laughed. “The deal is already done and for calling on God…oh you’re going to pay for it.”
