Chapter Two of Ten

                   Ultra Infinitas

Slowly, Linda released the door handle and turned toward the booming voice.  Whatever awaited her, she had to confront it.  For Sam’s sake.

The astonishing figure that stood across from her was tall, at least six and half feet.  His breathtaking physique was covered by a sky blue garment stretching from his neck to his calves.  Skintight, it revealed every detail of his massive torso.  The flowing hood on his head and shoulders was forest green, as were his boots, gloves, and briefs.  The blue mask covering his upper face was aimed directly at Linda.  His gaze was cool, but intense.

And on his huge chest she saw these symbols in white:

      >∞

Linda’s mind raced back to her college math classes.  Yes, the arrow pointing to the right meant “greater than” or “beyond.”  And the figure eight lying on its side?  That stood for infinity.

Beyond infinity?

The voice thundered again and she looked up from his chest.  “My insignia is not important now.  Tell me about Sam and why you seek my help to find him.”

“Not so fast.  What did your friend do to me in the bar?  Some kind of hypnosis?”

“Yes.  He then walked you upstairs, let you into your room, and suggested you lie down.  No liberties were taken, I can assure you.  Many people ask my help, some who don’t deserve it.  Kelvin allows me to be certain.”

“All right.”  Linda gathered herself and faced him squarely.  “Sam is my sister Samantha.”

“She’s missing in this area?”

“Yes, she’s an assistant on an archeological expedition that was headed to-”

“The Fletcher expedition?”

“That’s right!  You know about it?”
