The sun shines brightly in front of me, casting a long shadow behind me. My wet shirt was stuck to my back, making me feel extremely uncomfortable. But I could not have been bothered with that, not after seeing that vision in the crystal ball. My mind was filled with thoughts of what I just saw, such that on several occasions, I nearly to bumped into some people on my way. School suddenly seemed very far away despite the fact I was already rushing that on my top speed.
Soon, which seems like an extremely long time to me, I reached school. I was breathing heavily by then and my legs were aching. Suddenly, I felt a tap on my shoulder behind of me. Still feeling the shock from the vision, I swung my hand behind swiftly, thinking that it was the beast I saw in my vision. I felt my hand hitting something soft. I turned my head around and immediately regretted it. It was Jeanette, my, best friend since the start of middle school. She had a long silky black hair with brown eyes. Unlike majority of the girls, she was part of the minority who loves sports, does not put on make-up and was often seen wearing t-shirt and jeans. Despite not being that feminine, many boys in our school are infatuated with her. She is very open-minded, listens to a friend’s worry without giving unneeded comments which might hurt them and this sensitiveness was what that attracted me to her which led us to becoming best friends.
“Ouch! Why are you so tense today?” she said while rubbing her arms.
I took deep breaths and made an attempt to relax my tensed face. Just when I was about to open my mouth and tell her what I just encountered, the bell rang.
“I will tell you about it later… Lets race to class” I added, dying to get back to my normal self.
We ended up rushing to class and reached just in time before the teacher arrived in class. When Mr Crank came in, I realized it was maths the first period. Then, Mr Crank starting giving a long boring speech on the recent maths test before giving out the test papers. For the first time in my life, I was hoping I would not get high marks for the test. Out of the blue, Jeanette, who sits beside me shook me. I stared at her with a confused face. Go and get your test paper, she mouthed out the words to me. Just then, I realized the whole class were looking at me, waiting for me to claim my test paper. I stood forward and my hands were shaking slightly as I received the paper. I looked at the score on my paper and immediately, I felt frightened. The vision I saw in the crystal ball came true. I did get a score which I would be proud of, a score which would leave me dazing off. Instantly, I gazed towards the direction of the door and to my relief, there was no blue oval portal there. I went back to my seat and feeling insecure, I looked towards the door once more and I saw it. It started not any bigger than a rat. Then it started to grow bigger and bigger. It grew to the size which I saw in the crystal ball. I began hoping in my heart that the beast would not appear. All my hopes were shattered when I saw a hand with elongated fingers and sharp nails coming out of the portal. My heart skipped a beat. I shook Jeanette who looked towards me and gave me an angry face, signalling for me to keep quiet as she wanted to focus in class. I started whispering her name, hoping to catch her attention but she ignored me. I looked towards the door, the beast was already out of the portal. Using its powerful leg, it leaped onto the ceiling above, stuck to it and started looking around. Panicking, I called Jeanette’s name louder and louder. When I finally could take it no longer, I screamed her name. But to my surprise, no one responded… No one even looked at me… Such an act during class time would normally cause a commotion but no one even bothered to look at me.
