The Book of Lies is a great book! I highly recommend reading it! Below are the notes that I took as I finished each chapter in the book! I hope you enjoy them. But be sure to read the book yourself, the below may spoil it!

0.     Prologue

    ·       The main character is a boy named Calvin Harper.

    ·       When Calvin was nine, he witnessed his mother die of a fall in their kitchen.

    ·       Calvin feels responsible for the death of his mother.

1.     Chapter One

    ·       Calvin talks about the death of his mother and how he feels responsible for it.

2.     Chapter Two

    ·       Ft Lauderdale Fl

    ·       At the beach

    ·       The groups job is to do something with homeless people because they describe them as clients

    ·       The chapter ends with a call coming in from a police scanner that they had. Cal says it’s the call he has been waiting for his entire life

3.     Chapter Three

    ·       The group finds a hurt homeless person with a gunshot.

    ·       The man turns out to be Cal’s father who he has not seen in years.

4.     Chapter Four

    ·       Cal and his father (Lloyd) both realize who each other is.

5.     Chapter Five

    ·       Cal’s dad is a truck driver and he was trying to make a delivery when he was attacked and mugged.

6.     Chapter Six

    ·       They are at the hospital at 1:34am.

    ·       Cal is having trouble with the thought that he has his father back.

7.     Chapter Seven

    ·       Cal’s father is ok and they were able to get the bullet wound out, He will be heading home that day.

8.     Chapter Eight

    ·       Cal’s father goes off with a Spanish speaking lady about some shipment.

9.     Chapter Nine

    ·       The shipment that Lloyd is supposed to be carrying is some sort of book

    ·       The judge is tracking Cal’s phone and they try to make sure that Cal does not get to the shipment.

    ·       Cal is on his way trying to break into the yard to try to see what the shipment

10.  Chapter Ten

    ·       Someone just bumped into Cal’s car. At 3 in the morning. It was Timothy, Cal knew him.

    ·       Timothy is the one that is going to try to help get Cal to the shipment.

11.  Chapter Eleven

    ·       Lloyd is at the shipment before Cal was able to get there.

    ·       Cal was in a car following Lloyd with Timothy

12.  Chapter Twelve

    ·       There is another car chasing Lloyds truck, it’s the state cops…

    ·       They then realize that it’s not a cop car, it’s a van.

    ·       It is Cal’s van.

13.  Chapter Thirteen

    ·       The cop pulls out his gun, Cal and his father see each other

    ·       The “cop” is Ellis who isn’t a cop

14.  Chapter Fourteen

    ·       Timothy was working with Ellis

    ·       Timothy points a gun to Cal

15.  Chapter Fifteen

    ·       They are both arguing, Timothy and Ellis

    ·       Ellis shoots Timothy

    ·       A car is approaching them

16.  Chapter Sixteen

    ·       Cal ticks the dog into biting him but the baton is in Cal’s arm

    ·       Ellis just has to go help the Dog because the dog is in pain.

    ·       They are running away

17.  Chapter Seventeen

    ·       Cal and his father are deep in the water, swamp. Hiding from Ellis and his dog.

    ·       Ellis was able to steel Lloyd’s truck, Lloyd is very annoyed.

    ·       Cal continues to try to get what is going on out of his Dad.

    ·       Timothy’s body is gone. They think Ellis fed it to the Alligators in the swamp.

18.  Chapter Eighteen

    ·       Ellis is opining the package; it is a book, possibly a journal.

    ·       It turns out that the trucks were switched…

    ·       Ellis thinks that Cal has the correct shipment, which had the book of lies in it.

19.  Chapter Nineteen

    ·       Cal admits to Lloyds that the truck that Ellis stole is a fake.

20.  Chapter Twenty

    ·       Cal was hiding the shipment is a hidden warehouse.

    ·       They are unpacking the shipment; they find a hidden area of the shipment.

    ·       There is a siren heading toward them.

    ·       They are able to break into the hidden compartment; there is a coffin.
