I continue my chatter about life and growing up.

The Constant Chatter Ten

The more I learn about people down here the more confused I become. I’m finally learning a few words but not enough to teach them anything. The thing is I’m forgetting all the time, and by the time I’m able to talk, I probably won’t know anymore then they do! So this is life on planet earth, you come hear knowing, then you forget and have to start learning all over again. The problem is they really don’t know much, poor things – and to think that I’m going to be just like them in a few years! Oh well, there are a some good things about life here and I guess I should think positively, come to think of it, a guy called Norman told me that just before I left to come here – interesting that I remembered that. He said something about a book that he wrote – maybe I’ll read it someday. Man! I’m getting wa-a-a-y too serious, this is supposed to be my time for having fun. I’m going to learn to ride that three wheeler and if I do fall off and bang my head, I’ll cry and run to mommy like I’m supposed to do. I’ll laugh when people make funny faces at me and take whatever money they offer me, it looks like that’s what everyone else does anyway! I see mommy is watching the soaps again, I don’t know what she see in that. I’m going to my room to watch cartoons – yaa Spider Man! Now that’s where the action is!

‘I saw a little birdie go hop hop hop, I said, little birdie will you stop stop stop, I ran to the window to say how do you do, but he shook his little tail and away he flew‘. Hey- I’ve got it, I’ve remembered it all! Grandma gave me a book with all those little verses in it – she calls them nursery rhymes, and she loves to read them for me. Of course I’d never tell her that I’d heard them all before – even knew some of the people who wrote them for that matter – She gets so much fun from reading them and I laugh at those funny faces she makes. I love my grandma and grandpa, but I think they’re awfully old! I bet they’re almost fifty! I know they’ll have to go home someday, but I hope that I’m all grown up by then, anyway, I’ve heard that some people live more then a hundred years! Wow- imagine the wrinkles! I don’t think I’d want to be here that long though, you’d have played the same old games over a zillion times. Speaking of games, we played ‘ring around the rosie’ at Mike’s birthday party, and we got to hold hands even – but I think the easiest for all of us was the falling down part – we’re still very good at that! I can’t wait for ‘Spin the bottle’ – but that might not be for awhile yet… Say, I wonder if the soaps are over, I really want a glass of milk – yes, I did say glass – I have my own special glass now. I told you I was growing up.
