The First family is nearly under siege in the White House.
Jaci did not see them but there were three other war wagons parked at intervals around the field. It was not an airport, just a field they could use. A fire truck was parked near the edge of the field. Each wagon had a field of view that covered over 120 degrees, a field that overlapped the fields of the other three units. Each unit had a least one man under cover near the van in a sandbagged area in case the men were caught off guard. It was like a war zone. Marine 1 made a zig-zag approach, landed and the women disembarked. They quickly transferred to the limo where Sandra was waiting for them. The new secret service doctrine was keep them under cover as much as possible, leave them out in the open only when moving, when they would be hard to hit. The limo pulled from the landing zone, two war wagons preceding it, the other two bringing up the rear. Three secret service cars carried additional agents. The secret service coverage in the intensely conservative area with known militia elements was to be intense. A fifth war wagon was hidden nearby. It would follow the motorcade at about a half mile distance to prevent a surprise from the rear.
As they pulled out Marine 1 and the backup chopper lifted off and followed, each one flanking the limo to provide a perimeter of safety for the president’s family. They would fly with the party for a time and then break off to return to Washington. Leaving them on the ground would have created another area to secure, that would only divide the attention of the defenders, one more place for a diversion to help dilute the protection of the president’s family. That was the mentality of the Secret Service. They were defending the president and his family from the American People. The president’s family would return to Washington by car, the small motorcade would have five war wagons to protect it. The president’s wife would be available in Washington DC for a women’s meeting after noon the next day.
