Big situations require big risks.
“OK, I’ll try to look the next time. I guess you did.”
“Yes, it was hard but it helped me. You know it is going to be much harder for mom?”
Judi wrinkled up her face, “How can it be harder than having your leg cut off. One or two, what’s the difference, you’re still a cripple.”
“Stow that word. I do not plan to be a cripple. If you want to it’s your problem but you can’t be one till we get mom on her feet. Then you can wallow in self pity.”
“OK, but I bet no guy is ever going to look at me again.”
“You know that is wrong, look at the rest of you, you pull on a tight sweater the guys bug out at you. You pull a pair of tight jeans over your butt and the guys trip over their feet. You let your bare belly stick out and they get all hot. I know, I can do it and it works and I don’t look any near as good as you do. I don’t even look as good as you did two years ago. You still have all of that, and one really nice leg. Can you help me with mom?”
Judi nodded. “I can try.”
“And we are going to do it. You can cry to yourself, but with mom, it has to be no problem. She has enough problems without worrying about us. Dad has his hands full with the country. And that is getting worse. I’ve seen the news. This country is going crazy. Can you handle that?”
“I’m no sure, but I’ll try.”
“You’ll do it. We have to do it, for mom and dad. They have always been there for us. Now we have to be there for them.” She hugged her sister then went back to bed.
