Kathy finds a way to get a view of the first family.
Kathy knew the president’s family had leg injuries. They would eventually spend some time in PT. This might be a good place to look around. Instead of leaving when she was released she wandered around the area avoiding the area the guard was in, pretending to be trying out her crutches. Ironically the injury was a good cover. A person on crutches was not out of place in some areas in the hospital. She must remember this. It may be useful some day. She remembered the pain of breaking and more so the setting of her leg. She decided that if she was going to do this she would pick a different injury.
She pretended to have a problem with her hands and went into the one PT room to ask for tape to place on the crutch handles for better grip. A young woman with a name tag of “Amy” put it on for her. She thanked Amy and crutched out of the room taking a long route. When she came in she heard Amy talk about “all three of them will be brought down soon. I feel so sorry for them.” Now this was a long shot but this ‘three’ could be the president’s family. How could she learn more about them? If they were coming here the place would certainly be swept carefully. Without some careful planning she would be found, identified and escorted out of the hospital. She started looking for a way to learn something, a place to hide and watch. This was how a story was built, find some nugget that nobody else had then expand on it. She found a hall that had a security camera that pointed toward the door of the PT department. If she could just get access to that camera video feed and record what it saw she may have that nugget but there was no way she could do that. Jason could do that. He had done it several times but she didn’t carry the equipment needed and even if she had it she didn’t know how to connect it. She would have to ask him to show her how. In her backpack she had a small VHS camera she used to video and record audio in certain settings. She found a gurney parked along the hall right under the security camera. It was a blind spot where she would not be observed setting up her camera. She taped the camera under the gurney and pointed it so it viewed the hall, placed a sheet over it to hide it but cut a small hole for the lens. From the outside it looked like a small tear in the sheet. Then she retreated to a restroom down the hall, put an out of order sign on a stall, entered it, used a piece of duct tape on the outside to hold the door nearly, sat down on a commode and waited. Her leg ached. She rummaged in her backpack and found a bottle of pain killers the doctor had given her. She could take three at a time. She swallowed one without any water. When it went down without much difficulty she tried two more. She placed her crutches across the commode and sat on them with her legs propped up on them. It was not long till there was something moving in the hall, someone opened the door, checked the restroom by looking under the stalls and left. Had they checked the individual stalls they would have found her. Soon it was quiet again in the hall. She went to the door and cautiously looked out. Two policemen were guarding the PT area. She could not retrieve her camera yet without attracting attention. She would have to wait.
