Another source confirms the story.

Within a few minutes the printer stopped and started again.  He handed her the picture of the women before the attack.  She made measurements and handed him the picture.  “As close as I can come, Mitzi is just under two inches taller than she was six weeks ago.    I wonder what happened?”

He thought for a minute, “If she for some reason wanted to be taller, if she lost both legs, they could make the artificial ones, or the casts, longer.”

“But why would she want to be taller?  She has a body that is nearly perfect.”

“But maybe she thinks it’s not perfect.  What if she had always wanted to be taller?”

A few minutes later he whistled, “Look at this.”

He pointed to a blowup of the picture of them standing together that morning, “Look at this.  The calf of Judi’s right leg is as large in diameter as the cast she is wearing.  That is impossible.”

“So what?”

“And Jaci’s right leg is too big.  If I swap them, they measurements are right.  And look here.  On the casted leg, Jaci’s knee is too high, Judi’s is too low.”

“But the casted legs match the good legs of the other girl.”  Kathy retorted.  “So that’s how they did it.  They casted the good leg, made it fit the stump of the other girl and we were to be fooled.”

“OK, Sherlock, what about Mitzi?”

“They could have used almost anyone’s legs given that it was a woman about the same weight and height.  She would have had to be willing to have casts on long enough for them to set. I would guess it would take five hours.  Getting someone to do that wouldn’t a big deal for the president.  It could be a White House staffer but I can’t remember anyone there about the same size as Mitzi.”  His eyes brightened, “She has a sister, I wonder if she’s at home or here?”

“Where does she live?”

“Normal Illinois.”

“Do we know anyone who can check if she has been out of town?  They would have had to do it a day before he press conference.”

“Yes, I have a friend in Normal who can check tomorrow.  I’ll send her an E-mail now. We should get an answer tomorrow afternoon.”  She started typing on the computer.

Laura

Could you check the home of Tracy Stewart, the First Lady’s sister and see if she has been out of the area in the last couple of days.   Also if she was, does anyone have any idea where she went?  The ideal would be to know when she left town.  Will do you a favor some time.  Please keep this to yourself for now.

Kathy

While she was typing the phone rang.  It was Betty Jarvis.

“Kathy, Mrs. Donaldson has asked that I confirm that you can come tomorrow morning at ten.”

“Fine, can you tell me the purpose?”

“You should expect to be with the family till after noon.  Jason is to come too and is to bring, as she put it, plenty of film.  If you have that little video camera you carry, bring it.  All we ask is you do not publish or communicate your ideas with anyone else till you talk to us.  We will give you an exclusive.”

After confirming she hung up.
