The adventure begins, will Charlie find who took his pumpkin or is it gone forever.

Charlie had been so happy this morning. He had wanted to see his wonderful cat jack-o-lantern again. Now he stood on the porch, wondering where to start looking for his missing pumpkin.

Suddenly he heard a sound in the bushes. Turning he saw Sassy. Sassy was Charlie’s kitty, she just stood looking at him with big round green kitty eyes. Than all of a sudden she turned and ran. “That’s weird”, Charlie said. “She’s never ran from me before, What’s wrong with her”. It was then Charlie had an idea. I wonder if Sassy took my pumpkin? Maybe she liked the carved cat sooo much she wanted to play with it. “I bet that’s what happened.” Better go find her and get my jack-o-lantern back. Charlie took off in the direction Sassy had gone.

That’s when he saw Bear, the neighbors friendly dog and Charlie’s friend. “Hi Bear”, Charlie said, reaching down to pet him. “Have you seen Sassy, She took my jack-o-lantern and I’ve got to find her and get it back. Will you help me?” Bear wagged his tail in agreement. Off the two go in search of the cat thief.

“Here Sassy, here kitty, kitty”, Charlie kept calling, but no sign of Sassy. Charlie’s friend Emily, heard Charlie and came over to say hi. “Boy last night was fun, wasn’t it” she said. “Yea, but today my pumpkin’s gone” Charlie replied. “I think Sassy has hidden it, so Bear and I are trying to find her.” “I could help you look” Emily said. “Your jack-o-lantern was my favorite of all the one’s we saw last night. We’ll get it back.” “Let’s go” said Emily.

The three friends looked every where. They looked under the porch. They looked up in the trees. They even looked in Bears house, but no sign of Sassy. “Maybe I should just forget it” cried Charlie. “Sassy has taken my pumpkin and we’ll never see either of them again.” Charlie sat down in the grass and Emily sat down beside him. Bear tried to offer comfort by licking Charlie’s hand but Charlie was still upset.

All of a sudden Bear jumped up and started barking. Charlie and Emily looked to see what Bear was looking at when they saw Sassy run into the garage. Jumping up the two friends ran to follow her. Being as quiet as possible they went into the garage. Looking around they saw Sassy go behind some boxes Dad had stored. Is that where Sassy had hidden the jack-o-lantern? Would they find it?
