The girls decide to make a live in museum out of the house and undertake converting the house for tourists.

Museum

Babs and Page managed to keep their grades up and put a lot of hours into The House On Peri Lane. As quickly as display cases could be designed and installed they added the articles from the house to them. Mr. Simms was a big help he designed and built most of the cases. Some of the items took special attention which he wasn’t equipped to deal with. These jobs were contracted out. The dresses had to be mounted on mannequins and enclosed with air tight glass cases so they could be properly displayed. The library had to have Plexiglas fronts installed to cover the shelves of rare books. Mr. Simms explained that most people would have to touch them and the sheer volume of traffic through the place would ware the books out simply be them being handled so much.

School let out for the summer and the girls had an open house for the students of the high school. All the students visited over the weekend. They had the open house on a weekend because a lot of the students had part time jobs during the summer months and were busy during the week. They had over three hundred visitors over the second weekend in June. Beverly stood by proudly watching the young people and their parents come and look at the items from her period in history.

“What do you think of our open house?” Page asked Beverly.

“I think it’s wonderful. The young people can read about these things in their history books then come here and see a window into my time.” She had become so solid that the visitors passed her by, greeting her as one of the staff that showed them around the house. None suspected she was a ghost. Wanda and Loraine greeted and addressed her as a family member so the visitors took it for granted she was just that.

“What will you do now?” Ronald asked after the last of the guests had departed.

“I guess we could charge a small admission fee to give people a guided tour,” Page suggested.

“You’re going to need some security around here. Now that people know about this place and have an idea of how valuable it is, someone is sure to try to relieve you of some of the more valuable items.” Bob suggested.
