I don’t know what was wrong with me but all I did was giggle like an idiot. “Well, at least I know that if I do move in, I’ll already know a neighbor.” He smiled and walked off and I just stood there feeling incredibly dumb.
From the moment I saw him I knew he was the man of my dreams. Not just because he was handsome but because he was pushing a bunch of children on a tire swing. The kids really loved him and they looked liked they were having so much fun. Luckily my niece was on that swing so that allowed me to talk to him. I was so nervous but I tried my best to keep a confident stride and called out to him, “Hey there, I just came to pick up my niece.”
He smiled up to me and said, “So which one’s yours?” At that moment Lisa saw me and yelled out to me and asked him to stop the swing. “Now I just need to see that you have permission to pick her up.” I handed him a note signed by the pre-school’s manager letting him know that I had already seen her and gotten permission to take Lisa.
“My sister will be very glad to see that you are very dutiful to your job.” I said giving him my biggest and probably cheesiest smile. He gave a small laugh and I couldn’t help but blush and kick the dirt a little bit. “My name’s Missy.” I said and chewed my lip while I waited for him to shake my hand.
“I see. It’s great to meet you.” he said and took my hand. If I could have melted into the earth I would have. Next thing I knew Lisa was tugging at my shirt saying that she was ready to go home. “Have a good day Lisa. Bye.” he said to her and then to me.
“So what’s your teacher’s name?” I asked her as we got into the car. I couldn’t believe that I forgot to ask. Wait, I introduced myself so he should have introduced himself. Well what ever right? Lisa fidgeted with her bag and didn’t answer. “Lisa, what’s your teacher’s name?” I asked again.
“Um, I don’t really know.” She looked up at me and shrugged. “We just call him mister B “cause his name is too hard to say.” I smiled at her in the rearview mirror. She was such a pretty little girl, she was only four but you could tell that she”d be carrying those lovely looks for the rest of her life.
